I have an old Nokia 5185i I'd like to give a friend to use. I got the phone thru Verizon. Can it be reprogrammed to work with Cingular?

Verizon runs on CDMA and Cingular runs on TDMA, GAIT (GSM & TDMA), and GSM. If you know i'm wrong, correct me please!

That's correct. The phone won't work because VZW and Cingular us different technologies. It's a hardware issue not a software issue.
