I'm now as Sprint PCS customers. And I'm out of contract 1 year with Sprint, but now I'd like to change my phone into Nokia 3585i. I just wonder do I have to pay 129.99$ to get that phone, or I can get that with the same price as people just new activate with Sprint (50$ after 80$ instant rabate..). Please let me know somehow I can get that phone with cheaper price than 129.99$. I just think that's impossible price for me, I guess.
I think you can qualify for the rebate if you have been a customer for at least 9 months, renew for another year and buy the phone at a Sprint store. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not the Sprint stores are offering the 3585.
As A Current sprint Customer you do not qualify for the mail-in or instant rebates.... fortunately sprint has a department called "Retention Dept." You call 1888-211-4727 or *2 SEND from you handset and ask "Claire" for Retention, what they can do for you is offer you $50 of credit on your wireless account that you can use towards a new handset or services as long as you stay a customer of Sprint. It definetely beats paying 129 bucks for a new unit. The US Release of the 3835i Nokia phone is on Monday March 3rd 03,check your local RadioShack or SprintPCS store to get your phone. Oh yeahh, get a data cable and take advantage of PCS Vision ^_^
Initial feedbacks suggest a mediocre phone in terms of voice quality and features, with plenty of software bugs (the "D" doesn't display on the screen when on Sprint although it is pictured doing so apparently). There is NO BROWSER for Vision or WW, which is a gross oversight. Nokia has never quite gotten it right on Sprint and I caution people to go slow if they're considering this.
To add to this, Nokia still insists on using its own CDMA chipset rather than buying the chips from Qualcomm like everyone else. Nokia's CDMA chipset is of inferior design and does not interface with the network properly. Nokia is infamous for making poor CDMA handsets.
