Does anybody know that Nokia 2270 (CDMA2000® 1X technology 800/1900 MHz) could be changed to GSM ? Just wonder if it may be done. Thanks
Nope, this is a hardware/chip-set related feature. GSM phones also use SIM cards which some CDMA providers may use in Asia (i.e.South Korea) but the answer is a resounding no. If you want a GSM model related to the 2270, look at the phones here to get an idea of which GSM model might be for you: http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/compareandbuy?showphones=2&sortby=0&resort=1
Most Nokia phones that are CDMA usally will have something for GSM that looks close. Hopefully GSM will be getting more clam shell phones selection like CDMA is getting this year.
There are a few Nokia clamshells for GSM...they are all rather high end devices though, and quite expensive. And they all lack the 850 band of GSM if I am not mistaken.
There's the 7200 but it hasn't been or may not be released. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=432
