OK well here is my review. Cons: -Small lightwieght -Solid Build -Loud Volume -Great Reception -Nice chrome accents -Very very good battery life Cons: -Screen is a little small That is my review sorry I didnt say anything I thought I would just just list them.
Just checked and the 2128i isn't showing on the website for my area today. This has definitely changed in the last month. Are they selling out or what?
I now have a Nokia 2126 (2126i), which is the TracFone version of this particular phone. So far, it's working great, no problems at all, calls are very clear, and the color screen is nice.
Apparently the post pay ones were temporarely pulled because of packaging reasons prepay are still available.
Andy what do you mean discount sorry I am lost there is a couple things I am thinking here. Why dont you email me and you can tell me there. Thanks
I took it out on the road yesterday (Verizon service areas). Both incoming and outgoing calls were nice and clear. The display is easy to read, fonts are large, and all functions of the phone work perfectly. As accessories are not yet available for this series of phones, I have a leather case that is designed for the Nokia 1221/1260 phones. Although it's not an exact fit, the elastics on the side of the case help keep the phone snug inside it.
While we're all waiting for the accessories for this series of phone to be released, I found a leather case designed for the Nokia 1100. The 212Xi series of phones are slightly shorter and narrower than the 1100, but this particular case also has the elastics on the sides and is actually a better fit (although still not perfect) than the 1221/1260 case I mentioned above.
To those who have this phone - what is the color of the keypad backlight? Is it the superbright white like the 3589i?
In case you were going to ask I'm new here, usually haunting HowardForums, but anyway the phone has the EXACT SAME dimansions as the Nokia Shorty from Virgin Mobile (appears to be the same model just with maybe a few other features and a color screen and different styling) and thus will work with a Shorty case. I have the 2126 (Tracfone-by-Verizon) and it's definately a small wonder. Little gripe is if you press the up key your screen yellows slightly, probably because the button is pushing the screen. Doesn't happen all the time, and I can live with it...
Since my initial messages, I now have a Nokia 2128i with Verizon, on America;'s Choice. The phone is the exact same phone as the 2126i TracFone, except for the internal software and branding. The printing on the 2128i keypad (text) is somewhat larger than on the 2126i. Both phones in my home area (SID 28), perform very well, signal strength is excellent and I have had no problems with coverage. When in a roaming area with the TracFone (anywhere outside of the Home SID or SID's that was/were programmed), the display will show "Roaming" along with a solid triangle. I have not yet been in a roaming area with the 2128i. This evening, I hope to brave mall traffic to see if the wireless accessory kiosk in the mall has leather cases for these models.
The discount being talked out, i believe, is the price of the phone packaged as prepay. It can be bought at Best Buy, Circuit City, and many other places way cheaper than retail from VZW.
Has anyone gone into the programming menu of this phone? Does it have 2 NAM's? - specifically the prepaid version? Also, if you can select the second NAM, does it have Asystem/Bsystem under the system select menu? And, if in the second NAM, you dial *#837# , what does it say next to PRL? None? Thanks. P.S. The No PRL is the case with my 6256i, so I can A/B force on the second NAM! Note : you have to manually program your MIN and MDN, plus set the NAM to disabled before updating the PRL.
Gonz, my 3589i has two NAM's but if I program a SID into NAM2 that's not in the system it won't connect to it at all. If I, however, put a SID in NAM2 that's extended network, it will connect with no problem.
andy, while you have NAM2 active, *#837# - does it show a PRL VER? I'm guessing it does. My 6256i shows no PRL on NAM2. I can A/B force with analog (dont even need an SID to force). ON AN ACII PLAN! SWEET! They must have stopped the updates for 2 NAM's for Nokias, this is the first VZ nokia in a while with 2 NAMs. No PRL = ANY SYSTEM! That means I can use dobson in Michigan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 400th POST!
Re: nokia 2128i or 2126i speakerphone When a call comes in, do you push upper left symbol to activate speakerphone? Then can you use up arrows for volume? My book doesn't explain it at all and doesn't show the icon. An icon shows up in the upper left corner that looks like a diagonal handset. Is that it? Thanks
Re: nokia 2128i or 2126i speakerphone Ok when you have a call come in first off connect the call by pushing the green button or the upper left button. Then after that you want to puch the upper right button and it will connect you to the speakerphone. To adjust the volume on that yes push the up and down arrows either up or down for what level you need. The only way to activate speaker phone is during a call which kind of blows but oh well. I hope that helps.
Re: nokia 2126i Thanks RyanB, My phone must be different because of network (Alltel). After answering call, the upper right button shows "silence", the upper left shows the symbol. Must be speaker on left side for my carrier. Forgot to use the vol. control when accessing speakerphone so maybe that's why I wasn't sure if it was the correct button to press.
Re: nokia 2128i -- 2128 -- Questions Crossposted from Verizon forum I lost my LG 4650 last week and Verizon suggested that I buy a Nokia 2128i and return it within two weeks if I find the old one or get my insurance replacement. But I have found a strange thing -- when people talk to me on the 2128i they always ask where I am.. They say the sound is so much clearer on the Nokia than on my old LGs. The LG is a much cooler looking phone, but I am tired of having people tell me they cannot hear me. The 2128i seems to do everything I want. Although I miss the outside toggles and the flip this little phone seems a wonder. But it will only cost me $50 to replace the LG on my insurance plan while Verizon wants $150 for the 2128i. Now the questions: I have read that it is possible to buy the Nokia 2128 for only $70 from Bestbuy as a prepaid phone and use it on my regular Verizon account. Is this true? Are there any differences between the 2128i I bought from Verizon and the 2128 (no "i") sold by BestBuy? What happens if I go into a Verizon store with problems on a phone bought from BestBuy? Thanks, Len
I just got this phone and it works well. What I can't figure out is a quick way to silence it before going in the movie theater. I have gone thru the documentation and just found the Menu.3.2.1 option. There must be an easier way to silence it, any suggestions?
Shouldn't this be possible by just quickly pressing and releasing the power button??? That's how it works on every other Nokia I've owned.
Yes all you need to do is press the power button really fast and then scroll to the desired option you want.
