Hi everyone. I have the Razr V3i using on the ATT network. It is unlocked so recently I traveled to a Caribbean Island and used a SIM Card from the Local Carrier, Digicel. The phone worked fine up the last moments in the Island. Upon my return to Miami I replaced the Digicel SIM card with the original ATT SIM card. Now I get "No Service" where "Cingular" used to be displayed. Different levels of Tech. Support from ATT spent a long time trying to help with the problem. They put the ATT SIM card in another phone and it worked. They put another ATT SIM card in my phone and again there was "No Service". They concluded that the problem is with the phone. Has anybody have any ideas about this problem and how to resolve it? Thanks.
Simple things first. Try taking the battery and SIM card out and leave them out for 10 minutes. Afterwards put them back in and turn the phone on. If this doesn't work we'll need to get more involved. -Jay
At this point I'd try to either flex the phone, or reflash it with a Monster Pack. The unfortunate part is that since the V3i was not a popular model finding the proper files to reinstall the phone's operating system may be difficult. Either way, either flashing or flexing the phone is not for beginners or the weak of heart. Update: I found V3i monster pack files here: Planet MotoX™ dot Net: RAZR V3i Monster Packs -Jay
Hey Jay. Need you to guide me through your second suggestion. Pardon my ignorance. I have downloaded the file R479_G_08.B5.3DR_MOTOX.shx. Now how do I install this file to the phone? Revor
The network settings may have changed since you went from an 850 area to a 1800 area probably.... change the network to AUTOMATIC... The SIM can and will change the network to connect
Jay, your suggestion worked. The network setting was on the 1900 band and as soon as I changed to automatic it worked. In the past whenever I travel to Cayman or Jamaica all I would do is insert the Digicel SIM card for that Island, and it would find the network. When I return to Miami I would replace the SIM with the ATT SIM card and it would find the ATT network. It seems the Digicel Agent changed the settings to match their band, when he installed the new Digicel SIM Card. Next time no one else will install my SIM card and mess with the Network settings. Thanks again Jay. Revor.
I am sorry Jack. My mistake. Many thanks to you for your suggestion about the network settings. I posted my earlier thanking Jay. Thanks to both of you. Revor.
Good call, I never thought to check if the phone got locked onto another band. Certainly reflashing the phone would have fixed it, but anything to avoid that headache is fantastic! -Jay
