I realize that there are probably a hundred threads on this, but please indulge my naiveity for a moment. I want to have no contract or only a one year contract on AT&T. I have a Cingular-locked Nokia 6030 that I want to use. If I provide my own phone, can I get it activated with no contract on a regular plan and go month-to-month? The one issue that I've read about is that on no contract, that you don't get mobile to mobile minutes. I don't want prepaid. I would be willing to provide my own equipment and sign a one year contract to get mobile to mobile minutes, but an AT&T store rep told me that they only do two year contracts. Please indulge me with an answer, thank you!
More then likely if a Rep tells you one thing, call cx care to confirm. As much as I hate to say this, Store reps of ANY company will do whatever they can to get their $$$$... Now AT&T does offer 1 yr contracts. Since you have your own equipment, you just need to speak to someone in their activations dept and get setup. Now something else that might interest you if AT&T give you too much problems is FlexPay with T-Mobile. This program is designed for customers who do not want prepaid but don't want the contract either. Same plans, same features and you can use the same phone or a compatible GSM handset (which you have) and activate service. All you gotta do is pay for service 30 days in advance and no contract, deposit or activation fee. Perhaps if you have time, check out a TMO store for details. Good Luck!
The store rep is correct in that when you get new equipment at a discounted rate we do not offer 1 year contracts. Even if you're upgrading, we don't do one year contracts. 3rd party agent locations like Wal-mart can set up 1 years simply because they're 3rd party and you have a separate agreement with Wal-mart when you sign up through them. I'd suggest checking out a Wal-mart or calling 1-888-867-4384 which is the sales department. If that doesn't work out for you I'd check out the Pick your Plan prepaid plans.. They're practically the same as a post paid account with no m2m minutes like you previously discussed..
TehJoE23479, could this perhaps be a regional thing. I started with a 1 year contract and never had a 2 year contract until I got my Blackjack last November. Typically it has been $150.00 off for a 2 year contract & $75.00 for a 1 year contract. However, if there are any rebates, they are almost always only available with a 2 year contract. IMHO, if there are no rebates then it does not pay to do a 1 year contract on an upgrade. Just curious. Thanks
Yeah they just recently did away with 1 year contracts. When they began the 'at&t advantage upgrade' program that's when it was axed. Prior to that they allowed you to do one year and what not. Now the only way to get a new phone is to either buy it out right or standard upgrade. They won't even let us approve standard upgrades early like they use to. It's either no commitment or standard upgrade eligible. I just got a blackjack today, loving it already. Is their any way to turn off the Xpress mail notification from the main standby screen?

i think that's only on days that you use it though..still is a ripoff because only if you use it one day its still a dollar regardless if you have one call or 50" i'd just go with a contract, you can always fight an ETF if you need to cancel.
my net 10 service is 0.00 access per day, .10 per min/ 0.5 per text message/ no setup fee and i get signal, wish i hadn't have bought the 2 new razr's for cash, i'd drop att in a heart beat
The $1/day is only charged on the days that a person uses their phone. And that is only on the M2M Go Phone plan. I prefer at&t's Pick Your Plans over a contract. I think the rates for the amount of minutes that I use per month are good. And for someone like me who just can't seem to commit to a contract for any length of time, these PYP are the perfect choice.
