That's built into Android now. I've seen it a few times and then I add it to the blocked call list that Android has now
I don't bother with the blocked list. I rarely answer unknown numbers anyway. I wonder how they get their data. From user reports?
I typed in the number in google search. Two different websites report that specifically as a credit card scam. One person indicated they were merely ID thieves using low-interest card rates to entice people to provide ID info.
Makes sense that Google would know about that and adjust the caller ID accordingly. I have long ago changed the VM prompt to the default "You have reached such and such number" so at least they can't get my name from connecting to VM.
I use the Hiya app, and the app uses a user reported database to alert to spam. If I get a spam call, I just go to my recent calls, and bring up the call. I can click a button to report a spam call, and I can even add comments for others to read if I like.
I got a Pixel over Christmas and LOVE this feature... Would have been much better when my phone was ringing constantly the months before the election. Be sure that if you do answer it - or they leave you a spam voice mail that you send the confirmation to google so that we all get better info on future calls!
Good point, I've never answered a suspected spam call, but I guess there should be a way to report a number that wasn't recognized as spam as well?
