Nexus 5X @$199 or Moto X Pure at $299. Is the Pure worth $100 more? I'm tempted but $199 for the 5X seems like a steal. This is with Fi. Let me know. Got to pull the trigger in the next 24 hours!
I've no experience with Fi, first, second or even third-hand, so all I can offer is to keep my fingers crossed for you! And you know, if it doesn't you just put a different SIM in
Scrumhalf, like dmapr I have absolutely no experience with Fi, so please let us know how it works for you. Have fun with your new toy. Sent from my iPad Air 2
Congrats. I'd lean with 5x also... Never know where Motorola's head is at. And also, why not experience completely vanilla Android? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
@palandri: I can't say for sure how scrumhalf found it, but there are two websites that typically are on top of all "deal of the day" sales. I saw the Moto deal on one of these: http://www.androidpolice.com/ http://www.androidcentral.com/ In fact, today's outrageously outlandishly fantabulous sale was the Sandisk 200GB MicroSD. It was only $59. (wow!!!!) Unfortunately, I don't need it and now the sale has expired. http://www.androidcentral.com/grab-sandisks-200gb-microsd-card-its-lowest-price-yet-59-amazon
The $199 price is conditioned on you signing up for 1 month of Google Fi service ($30 minimum) Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Here are details on the deal. Get a Nexus 5X for just $199 - CNET There is no contract, so you can cancel Fi after 1 mo and keep the unlocked phone in principle.
Ordered this case for the 5X. I generally go naked (my phone, that is ), but maybe I'm getting old, I dropped my Moto X a few times in the last couple of years and want to make sure I don't break this phone. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014RS5HBW
Wanted to report back on his things are going. The phone is great. Battery consumption is excellent. With moderate use, I can pretty much go from 7am to midnight without any issues. The fingerprint sensor is very good. Overall, I am very impressed with the 5X. It is also the right size for me, coming from the HTC One X and the Moto X 2nd Gen. Anything bigger than the 5X would be too unwieldy for me. Fi service is actually quite good. In the areas I have been, I have been mostly on TMobile. I don't think I've seen the phone connecting to a Sprint tower yet. I didn't have any issues with the quality of the WiFi calling. Data speeds were excellent. I got anywhere from 10Mbps to 50Mbps depending on location, which is not bad. But that being said, I think I am planning to port out of Fi. It will end up being more expensive for me to keep it because my wife and son are on an AT&T Mobile Share plan and it makes more sense for me to add a line to that plan. Bottom line for anyone considering Fi. If you are not on a shared plan and don't use a huge amount of cellular data, i.e. you can do most of your data downloads when on WiFi, then Fi is a great option. You pay $20 for unlimited voice/text and $10 per GB of data. The best part is that you only pay for the data you use, so if you have signed up for 2GB and only use $1.2GB, Google will refund $8. Which is really nice. The things I will miss are really inexpensive international calling, WiFi calling from abroad and same data roaming rates in many countries worldwide as in the US. I think that is really nice to anyone who travels abroad frequently.
