Wirelessly posted (A phone: Nokia6230/2.0 (04.43) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) Tomorrow I am going to do the archaeology at a proposed tower site. if I find something important no new tower. of course then I would have much paperwork for myself too. Here's to hoping I don't find anything!
Hey that's cool! Since that proposed Nextel tower could potentially become a Sprint tower in the near future I'm hoping yo don't find anything either!
Well, I found some historic artifacts, but nothing significant that should pose a threat to construction. It's a shame they can't or won't co-locate instead of trashing more of the forest though. There are already two towers (one Alltel tower 30 feet away and another one on the adjacent hill unknown to me...it had no FCC # or any other markings at all.) Here are a few pics I took with my Nokia. One of the existing Alltel tower, one of the service road (oooh, lol), and one at sunrise where the Nextel tower would be.
I wonder why Nextel won't share the tower with Alltel? It would make alot more finacial sense to share the tower, unless the 30 Ft will make that much of a difference in coverage for people? Nice pictures with the Nokia.
Believe me a carrier would rather save on costs and co-locate whenever a possible unless a good reason exsists why they can't. Some possible reasons are: 1) The exsisting tower doesn't meet their coverage objective 2) Unable to lease additional space on the tower because the tower owner and/or landlord won't allow it. 3) RF interference.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my settings. His pictures don't show in the posts, i have to try and click this tiny dash that is the link, just to show the pictures. They should auto show in the post. Any help would be much appreciated.
In your user control panel, under 'Edit Options' scroll down and see whether or not the "show images" box is checked under the Thread Display Options category.
Looks like stuff from a house that isn't that old. Is that your opinion on them? I was expecting some bones or something in the older order.
Some of the bottles might be old, but they are not firmly datable. Because of this, the stuff is all considered very "insignificant."
well, alone not much. But if they are old enough and/or possibly associated with an old (over 50 years) homestead, mine, famous person, etc. then the bottles could be considered a historic archaeological site. And then based upon the significance of the site (what potential it has to yield information about the past) the tower site might have to be moved or abondoned to protect the site. Such was not the case in this instance so Nextel is free to commence deforestation.
Ah-I understand now, Thanks a lot for clearing this up for us. Will be interesting for you to see the progress made when Nextel starts to build the site.
So, Anthromatt, are you going to tell them there's potential interference threat to public safety radios?
