    Nextel story
In the above story, there is a quote that says, "Additionally, rivals Verizon Wireless and Cingular Wireless both operate in much of the 2.1 Ghz band already and it would be hard to move their operations, he said."

Is this true that these providers have coverage from the 2.1 ghz band?

That's crap. No other carrier uses the 2.1 Ghz band. Sprint PCS uses the 1.9 Ghz (1900 Mhz) band and Cingular in some markets uses the same band. Verizon wireless mostly operates in the 800 Mhz band but they do have some 1900 Mhz only areas also.

I don't know anybody that uses the 2100 Mhz band.

umm. so what band does vwz and sprint use for there t1 backhaul (microwave) when they have no fiber connected to a tower. Look it up and then u'll see the problem. Ya"ll are all baised thinking for a company instead of public's benefit.

Verizon is trying to get them to pony up and pay the big bucks. Like they did with Cingular/ATT merger, with Vodaphone

Okay, neither Verizon Communications nor Verizon Wireless had anything to do with Vodafone Group's bids on AT&T Wireless. Is this a similar strategy? Yes. Is it the same company? No.
