how well dose nextel work in CT (litchfield county) and as whole VT and NH? going to be leaving this so called cell phone provider ATT/Alltel johjn
Your best bet is to check www.cellguru.net, run by Dave Markson. His site has extensive info on coverage in all the New England states, for all the providers. -way
The Nextel coverage map is pretty accurate, although I am not sure the current status of the "future coverage areas".
thanks -- any info on how long the iDen network will be in place and if they will add iDen to current sprint towers?
Not much in VT and if you go out of Southern NH, coverage deteriorates and I believe is non-existent north of Concord, NH. There are a lot or rural areas that do not have any Nextel coverage. At least with other carriers, you can roam on another compatible network if there are no native towers nearby. Suliman
I had Nextel and it was pretty bad in Litchfield county. Not sure about VT or NH. I had Cingular switched to Nextel and then went back to Cingular.
Nextel is pretty useless north of Concord, NH. They have I beleieve 3 towers in the Laconia area where my office was(before I moved). My company bought a bunch of Nextel phones and returned them within a week because they were pretty much useless. CDMA is the only thing that gives good coverage in Northern NE, GSM is catching up.
I just bought a Nextel phone to use the PTT for work..I still have my verizon phone. so far I'm fairly impressed with Nextel in the Meredith-Ossipee area
Go to their website and you can look at a pretty accurate map. My company did deliveries from Concord to Berlin. It didn't work well north of Ossipee on 16. It also didn't work north on 93 north of exit 23. I don't think this has changed much in the few years since I last had one in my hands. The problem with Iden is their is noone to roam on...you are at the mercy of Nextel and their network, don't ditch your Verizon! I lived in Meredith and lost signal going up route 3 towards Holderness too. You can get Touch 2 Talk with Verizon you know?
