I have a Samsung Hue (love it love it!) but the signal is kinda sucky in my house. It's military post housing and there are about a million layers of lead paint on the walls (lol, j/k sorta). When I do have a good/decent signal it's a blinking R. My hubby and I have the family national freedom 900 w/ 10 my circle numbers so does it matter that I get the R instead of the regular signal? My hubby is in Iraq right now so I don't want to miss any of his calls because of a bad signal. Is there a way to strengthen the signal or will I be ok with the R? =\

    :D

p.s. - what is this [1x] icon thing?

the blinking 'R' is letting you know that you are outside of your home network... you aren't being charged for roaming or anything,... as far as coverage, most bases i know of get less than desirable reception due to various freequencies and other things... i would find where your phone gets the best reception leave it there and turn the ringer up... or press *72(xxx)xxx-xxxx, the 'x' being your land line number, and the calls will be forwarded to your house phone..

*720(xxx)xxx-xxxx deactivates call forwarding fyi. But yeah, blinking R is free.

The 1x simply put, is representative of the data speeds you would get if you connected to the data network with your phone. 1x speeds are roughly 40-70 kbps. In some places you may notice EV which gives speeds roughly 400-800 kbps.

I noticed your provider is Sprint. Their coverage in that area is spotty at best any (unless you are close to the interstate). I live in Manhattan and still have pretty good coverage on Fort Riley (Alltel). You won't have to worry about the flashing "R" though.

It might be an old profile setting that needs updating because the HUE is on Alltel.

You've got a good phone for reception. Maybe going through the advanced stuff and seeing if you can pull a roaming signal preferred would help.
