Saw this at the bottom of my bill this month:

    Effective, January 1, 2007, a new statewide 5% Communications
Sales Tax will replace the various Local Mobile Consumer
Utility Taxes billed to customers. For general information
please refer to the Virginia Department of Taxation's Website:
    www.tax.virginia.gov. For specific information about
your bill, please contact customer service.

I'm not happy... I would rather pay the flat $3 dollar City/County tax... Now I'm looking at about 4-5 bucks a month. *sigh* Taxes...

Yeah, my taxes aren't that bad right now, but I'm sure I will end up paying more now.

I wish that my local/state tax was only 5%... The Tallahassee tax on my bill is 6.4% and the state of FL levies a 9.4% communications tax:mad:

It's just another way they found to change things to make more money off everyone.

I have to say, we are suprisingly lucky here in NJ, we have 7% state tax, and they haven't added any "Special" taxes to our wireless bills "yet"

I think Fl is one of the worst, and NYC is bad, they hit up for all types of city, state & other taxes on the wireless bills.

I just checked my last bill. For a bill totaling $87.98 my taxes were $5.62. A flat 5% would actually reduce my bill by a little over $1.

My bill was also reduced by about a $1 because of the new VA rate so I won't complain about it.

Remeber the flat tax is only for the state. So you would have to still add in the various federal taxes on top of the state flat rate.
