Just dial *228, then press option 2. This will update your phone with best roaming capabilities and it will be able to access all the best towers. Option 1 just programs your phone if you are just receiving your phone. You will want to do *228, option 2 every month for the latest updates!

Welcome to WA :). AFAIK the only way to upgrade the software on a Verizon phone is to have it flashed at a VZW store. *228 will only program the phone or update the roaming list.

Thanks for the replies. yeah thats what i was told by a rep also about the *228, but is going to a verizon wireless store the only way to have my software update. I have downloaded a thing on my computer called Motorola Software Update that i can connect my phone using a USB cable, but im not sure if i can do it that way also?

Welcome ot WA first of all. The only way to update your software is to go to a Verizon Wireless store. Motorola Phone Tools will not work with Verizon's Motorola phones, they block it.
