Alright, this is what I was hinting at a few days ago. No, it's nothing too major, but I'm sure some of you will like it. The next v60 launches the day after X-mas. It's called the v60s. The "s" is for speakerphone. It's basically a v60p without PTT, or a v60x with a built in speakerphone. It's for those people that want a v60, but don't want to pay for PTT or deal with horrible battery life. The phone is only being produced for a limited time, and will be sold "while supplies last", so I recommend not sitting around waiting for the price to come down if you want one. It will be very reasonably priced, significantly less than the v60p. From the pics I've seen, it has the same weathered green type faceplate as the VZW v60i's did. Other than that, it looks cosmetically the same as the v60p.
No... not yet... I wouldn't really call this a new model though... more of an interim model to tide v60 fans over until the really good stuff gets here.
This is a tough one. Is it time to sell the "i" or should I wait on what might come out next year? Is this phone the ticket if I don't want a camera and color? Decisions, decisions!
It's too bad that all the major manufacturers aren't putting speakerphone capability in their phones, now I have to debate whethere or not to get this one..."decisions, decisions"
Ceno....thanks for the news...but this phone is like kissing my sister. It's fun and all....but something is missing. No color, no cool sliding action like the Kyocera Slider...no camera......actually I feel this phone is non-Scottish. It's nice that Motorola is able to pump out the GSM phones.
I read over on HoFo that Moto wanted it to have the 60t screen, but VZW said "no dice." It makes sense, if you were to buy a phone with a color screen, there are many better choices. It is still pretty much just a phone for the people that would purchase an "s" so the battery life isn't worth it.
yeah and even the phones that are out with a speakerphone; the speakerphones suck! (ie. the 8600 and 8900). I am assuming that this phone will have the same great speakerphone that the V60p has, which is (in my opinion) the only thing that it has going for it.
I've never heard the v60p speakerphone, but as long as it is on par with the 270c it will be just fine. Sprint's new Sanyo's have a pretty good speakerphone too IMO.
I havent heard any of the speaker phones other than Verizon, so thats as far as my knowledge goes...I guess I should have specified that I was only referring to Verizon phones in my previous post!
If all this is is a v60p minus the puh to talk and opyou need a good speaker phone GET THIS PHONE. The V60p speaker on volume level 7 is EARSPLITTING Loud.
Is the speakerphone button on the top of the phone as it is with the v60p? When I had that phone I can't even count the number of times I accidently hit the speakerphone button when pulling the phone out of the holster unknowingly only to be deafened when I answered the call. Hope they moved it a little. Ominx.
No dice, yet... And yes it is the same speakerphone as the v60p, the button is in the same location, and it is of better quality than the 270c. All of the hardware on this phone is basically the same as the v60p, only there's no PTT.
It would be nice to have a handset with speakerphone but I don't really want a fat phone. My friend has a candy bar-style Samsung or Sanyo phone for Sprint (I'm not sure which one so don't ask) that has a pretty good speaker phone and the thing is really no larger than a normal Snickers Bar (not even the King Sized one.) I don't know why Moto can't offer the v60PFP with a large color screen and great speakerphone without the need to be fat. That would be a phat phone.
Since there's no PTT to kill the battery, I assume one can use the v60i slim battery. This should still provide decent battery life and a slimmer phone. Does this sound reasonable or will the speaker kill the battery?
The slim battery should work fine. I use a slim in my v60p and get a good 24 hours of use out of it, so without the PTT, I would assumer it would last just about as long as a v60i with a slim battery. The speakerphone doesn't cause nearly as much of a drain on it as the PTT does.
I was told that the v60s is currently not listed in testing & therfore may not be forthcoming anytime soon.
I have a friend who will probably get it the first day it comes out. It ...has a tremendous amount of potential. Lets see what happens.
I have been a v.60 fan from its inception with the CDMA "c" & now with the CDMA "i". I intend to purchase the v.60s if, in truth, it will be offered by Verizon soon and I will try to discern any problems within the first 15 trial days, as I discerned problems using the v.60p with non PTT regarding high battery usage and inferior RF sensitivity compared to my retired "c". I'm still wondering if the v.60s is going through and/or passed testing yet. Cenobyte, perhaps you will comment here, please?
