I just got my first cell phone the vx4400 and I have no idea where to begin with changing the wallpapers or downloading ringtones for free. I am fairly computer literate so I just need some pointers. If anyone can answer any of these questions I'd really appreciate it. 1. First, is there a good FAQ on the phone on what is needed to change ringtones and wallpapers? 2. Can I send wallpapers and ringtones to my phone with a regular USB cable or do I need to purchase a special cable (like Future Dial)? 3. Do I need any special software to send info to my phone or will Win XP treat it like a digital camera/external USB drive? 4. In case I want to make my own ringtones, what are the specs for a vx4400 ringtone (length, file size, sound quality)? 5. For wallpapers, does it matter what color depth the .bmp file is at? Photoshop offers 16-bit or 24-bit. I'd appreciate any help you all can give me. -john
The Yahoo Group has a lot of information, as well as ringers and wallpapers you can download. You'll need the FutureDial cable (you can get it at RadioShack) and the Prolifica drivers - which can be dowloaded from the Yahoo group. You will need special software. GAGIN or BitPim will do it. I would recommend BitPim as most people think it is much easier to use then GAGIN. I personally haven't used GAGIN. Both are free and can be downloaded at the Yahoo group. MIDI file. You can dowload a ton from the Yahoo group and dissect those. My color depth is always set to 24-bit on my wallpapers. (at least I'm pretty sure it is) There have been many discussions about all of this already...Search around here and Yahoo and you'll find all your answers
You will most likely want to remove the "Verizon Wireless" banner. Just do a search for "verizon banner", and you will find out how to do it. It can be done with BitPim or GAGIN. I used BitPim.
