This is a new Alltel tower that was jus erected in my area. I was looking to find an explination of the diffrent antenna styles that are on the tower. It was just turned on this past Friday.
It could be that CDMA/AMPS are on the omnis and GSM is on the sectorized panels. I think ALLTEL has been adding panels to some of their sites in UT for the GSM part.
The panels look just like the ones Alltel uses for CDMA here in Michigan. I very much doubt that AMPS is on the site at all since it is new. The omnis could be GSM. Another carrier in my area uses omnis for GSM 850 in rural areas.
I guess it varies by area then. Here ALLTEL is said to do GSM from the panels and everything else from the omnis.
Yep, the sectorized panels are CDMA 800 and the omnis are GSM 800/1900 roaming. Check out weldor's picture in the tower gallery for more detailed information I added to the entry. I will add the same info to the pic of the finished tower with antennas when I have more time later today. EDIT: Ahhhhh... now that's better!
