    New towers in Manhattan

This tower is one of the 5! new tower sites that have gone up in my neighborhood, (Dyckman Ave and Nagle Ave) this looks like a Verizon tower to me. I will take pics of the other towers that have recently gone up in upper manhattan (inwood) These are the first two pictures on the top line

This tower went up a few weeks ago, right before all that rain we had, its on 207th street and broadway, in Inwood, it could be a Cingular site or tmobile, not sure yet:)This is the third image

this past March, this tower went up near where I live, it's one of the many new towers near my house, this tower is on 204th st and cooper, about 1 block away from that new cingular? tower i posted. I have no idea who this tower serves. This is the 4th image, with three panels facing right

This sprint tower went up this past July. Its located on Academy ave and Post Ave. About 4 doors down from where I live. This is the image with one panel

This tower, went up like 2 months ago on 207th and broadway, it's located on the building next to that new 2 panel cingular or tmobile tower (see my other post), it's different from all the others in that the 3 panels are different.the final image

Well thanks alot Matt, now I will have to say this alllll over again!

Your first picture does not look like a Verizon site, as all Verizon sites in the NYC area now have 2 different types of panels. A few for 800, and 1 or 2 for 1900. Unless this is a 1900 only site, which I have never heard of.

The last picture posted is probably your Verizon site.

Hey cingulargirlnyc. I've never seen you post before. Welcome! How is NYC, i miss it. Anyway, that does not look like a Verizon site because all 4 panels are the same. Because of EV-DO usually in a 4 sector site 1 or 2 panels will be switched out to a different looking one. That might be t-mobile.

Here's my take on all the pictures:

    1) Looks like Nextel to me.

2 & 3) Most likely T-Mobile. All their panels are being converted to this configuration in our area.

    4) Could be T-Mobile or Sprint. Not sure.

    5) Looks more like Sprint.

    6) Most likely Cingular, but could be Verizon.

Number 4 does look like Sprint. But number 5 doesn't look like their typical installation, but of course I'm in So. Cal where it could be a little different.

Yep, I figured it was a Sprint tower, these pics are just of the new towers in my area, I will take some pics of the older towers within a 4 block radius of my house, there are so many towers in my area!

    # 1 "looks like" Verizon sites since most VZW sites here use this same looking 4 panels around here, However, Usually the 2 inner are 1900 & thinner when seen from the side, these all look the same thickness (Nextel), (although if it is VZW they may have just used similar radome plastic covers on all 4)....
By the way, odd I didn't see any of the mentioned "Towers" at all in those photos, however I did see panels on building rooftops... (Sorry, I just couldn't resist!!:) :) )

LOL! yeah we call them towers whether or not they are really towers. As long as we all know what we mean, that's all I care.

.. WE just got to be careful ..
I once actually met someone who was "against" plans for a cell tower he heard about in his neighborhood. He was thinking, ( & I can't really blame him), that a massive iron "Tower" was planned looming over his back yard.
When I told him the "plans" were simply for a cell "site" panels on the roof of a nearby office building ... He no longer cared.....
"Tower" is a habit to break, especially in NIMBY areas, & Especially when no one is actually planning to build an actual "Tower" there anyway ..

You just made a good point Meatchicken. We could see less hurdles trying to get panels approved for a water tank if they didn't include the word "tower".

Unless of course you're in Berkeley, CA where anything that transmits RF will be challenged to the bitter end.
