There is a new tower in Halfway, MO between Buffalo and Bolivar. I called Alltel, Cingular, and T-Mobile and no one has any ideas on who it belongs to. There is no sign on the gate up the drive, and I get no better service on my Cingular phone. I have a 6340i, so if it was GSM it most likely would have picked up some service if it was Tmobile. Thanks for any input.

It could just be that it hasn't been turned on yet. It is very common for a new tower to just sit for one or two months or even longer before it is fired up.

Thats odd that there is nothing there to say whos tower it is , I know here in Ohio, on a jobsite, there has to be a board posted with the permit on it. Its not surprising that the companys would not not tell you, they act like that is a national secret.

If you have a hand held GPS, go to the site and get the coordinates. The you can go the the FCC website- http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/asrRegistrationSearch.jsp and enter the coordinates. The tower may or not be registered depending on if it is was required. It may be a spec tower that was built by a tower company sunh as American Tower or Crown or something.

The previous poster was correct in saying that it may not be hot yet. The site may not have all the equipment installed or maybe teco has not been brought in. There are allot of variables!

    Hope this helps.

Like the previous posters said, the tower is probably not hot yet.

As for no name being on the tower, they usually do not put their name on the tower for fear of vandalism to them from people that have a grudge against the company. Probably a valid reason considering how many people get screwed over by cell companies with all of the fine print in their contracts.

Sprint makes no effort to hide their towers here in Los Angeles. Every one of Sprint's towers have their name clearly labeled on it somewhere. I have noticed that Verizon (formerly Airtouch) usually does not place their name on any of their towers.
