So I sent an email to Motorola and complained about the OEM holster and how it was not designed well. Also told them that I like the design of the Timeport P8767 holster much better and people would be willing to purchase it. I got a reply back a couple of days ago saying that they re-designed the T720 holster and they are sending me a new at no charge. Should be receiving it any day now. Good job Motorola, excellent customer service.
Could you post pics of it when you get it? I'm thinking about getting this phone but I've read a lot of negative comments about the holster.
Sorry, I don't have a digital camera to post a pic of it, but I will certainly post my impressions of it. By the way the new part number for the holster is SYN0633A whereas the previous holster is SYN0633.
Hi Johnnie: Thanks for sharing the info. Do you or does anyone think if we contact Motorola they would send us a "free" new holster as well? ~~BEAT~~ (PS- Hey Nasir - nice name - my middle name is Nasira (I've always loved my name!! )
I'm not really sure. But I don't see why not. I just went to the motorola website and sent a message and told them that I was not happy with their holster design and complained that it kept on falling out.
LOL...Can i trade my old holster in for the new one. Mines is so ghetto. LoL my cell phone doesn't even fit inside the Holster. I need some special tools just to pry it in/out. I usually miss all my calls becasue of it so I stoped using it. Now i am ALWAYS answering my phone becasue of that strange vibrating sensation i recieving in my left leg!!!!
I got this holster the other day..... Holster It is alot better than the one that came with my phone. Only problem is that it dosen't fit well with the slim battery and door.
I have this holster as well, and IMO, it's the best one for the T720. You can open phone while it's in the holster and the phone snaps in and out easily.
Could you post a link to the auction you won or the name of the seller so that we can see which T720 holster he has for sale? Thanks.
I telephoned Motorola regarding my holster. The quick release clip does not hold the holder part in at all. It's almost like the quick release clip is stuck in a push down position...and it is not. Motorola informed me that the part number SYN0633A is the same as SYN0633 on their Web site. The sales rep "claimed" that they do not list the last alpha character (usually A or B) on the Web site, but in their order system that is how it is listed. There are sending me a free replacement anyway for calling. Maybe this one will actually "hold" my phone in place or maybe even better, the rep is wrong and it is a newly re-designed better clip! I can post pics when I receive it for anyone who is curious to see the replacement holster being sent to me. JSG
IMO, the holster should not allow the phone to open while in the holster so the phone won't accidentally open so the inside is protected. If it does, it partly defeats the purpose of the holster. I say this because I had a number of bad experiences with a Timeport which seemed to flip open far too easily while wearing it on my holster. It was annoying and just one more risk at breaking your phone.
FYI This is the email I received from Moto about the holster and software for the T720c. Response (Joan) 01/28/2003 I am sorry to hear of the difficulty you are experiencing with your T720. The next software version scheduled for release if 29P. We anticipate release late 1st quarter or early 2 nd quarter. Motorola does anticipate the release of additional wearable accessories (cases) for the T720 1st quarter 2003, however I am not aware of a different holster scheduled for release. If you feel the holster may be defection please contact Motorola's Personal Communication Customer Care Center.
So I got the "newly designed holster" from motorola. The only thing they changed was that you can open the phone while you're wearing it. I was hoping that it would have a slimmer profile, meaning that it wouldn't stick out as much. Same flimsy removable clip. A little disappointed.
At least it's better. It was kind of pointless to have clip that releases the holster when you still have to take the phone out of the holster to answer it. At least now if you unclip the holster with the phone in it, you can open the phone while the holster is still attached. Since I have a Nextel i85, I'm used to unclipping the phone and then answering it. With my T720, by force of habit I unclip the phone, then I remember that I need to take it out of the holster to answer it. Regardless, I'm buying a leather case with a swivel clip so that it will cushion and protect the phone if I drop it.
You're right. It is a little better. But it still leaves a lot to be desired. I asked them to make the holster like the one they had for the Timeport P8767. I loved that holster and it was really thin. There are companies that make them like that but I didn't want to spend any money on it. I'm going to do the same and stick to my leather holster I got from MTU wireless. It was for the old vader phone and I used it for my V60. Luckily it fits the T720 too.
I guess the new holster is/was a running production change, because the holster yall are referring to as the new one, is the one that came with mine. You can unclip it from your belt and open the phone with it still in the holster. I don't think I would want one where you couldn't open the phone with it in it.
I just got off the phone with Motorola customer service and apparently the part number of the holster that comes with the Verizon version of the T720 is different from the regular holster part number on the accessories web site. Lucky for me their "returns" system was down, so instead of having me send mine in, and then sending me a replacement, they guy simply ordered a replacement for me. I wasn't as lucky as Johnny to simply get a replacement, no questions asked. I figured I'd get the new one just to have as a backup for the leather case that I'm planning on getting.
I was wondering who you guys were contacting about the holster, motorola or your carrier. I just called motorola and the woman told me to put the phone in the holster opened and then close it, and that they did not have a new holster or were planning on making one. Needless to say I wouldnt trust that thing to hold my phone with it opened and just closed over the holster, it wasnt designed that way.
This holster won't work with the extended battery. I've now got a brand new one I'd be happy to sell to someone. The swivel is first class...nothing like the OEM clip.
