Alltel has finally got the V3m, and you can get it in 2 colors: Red, or silver.

And they put the Christmas theme up on the site also!! Check it out:

Yeah, they've had the V3m for a week, I mentioned that back on 11/11/06

They also released the LG AX245 recently, which Ironwalt mentioned on 11/09-06.

The Blackberry 8703e was recently released for Alltel and the Motorola Q should be out by the end of the year.

In addition, sources on the Phone Scoop forums and HoFo are reporting the Samung u520, two Palm devices and a Samsung SLVR clone are all on the horizon for Alltel.

is the V3m, the (moto)red one?!

I think moto needs more (red) phones to be honest with you, I would love to see the Q go (red), then I would definately get one ASAP. but for now, I just have to wait it out and hope when Alltel gets it, Midwest gets it!

No, the fire red Motorola V3m that Alltel offers is not part of the Product (RED) campain Motorola is participating in. Sprint, US Cellular and Cingular are the only three carriers I know of that are participating right now.

You'll notice the (RED) phones are a different shade than Alltel's red RAZR. Alltel's is darker, almost maroon, like the W315.

haha, that did make me sound kinda dumb.

Its not that. I would love to see (red) become more successful (thats why on aim I decked out my profile with pro-(red) stuff, and look at my myspace page @ http://www.myspace.com/dizzydj , im not kidding, I want this to work!)

the problem with it is that it has become so exclusive. Armani (red) sunglasses for 165 bucks, armani (red) watch for nearly 400 bucks, all the GAP clothing lines sold out online, and only small sizes left in stores, an American Express (red) card that is EXCLUSIVE IN THE UK, and ONE cell phone retailer picking up the (red) V3c (and then the (red) SLVR which is UK ONLY).

The only thing that I see people really picking up is the (red) ipod nano (I got one for my car ;) )

Yes, profits do go for AIDS/HIV support in Africa, but its become so materialistic that the balance between reality and ideals aren't there.

Now that I have cleared that up, im sorry if I offended anyone!

Oh, okay, that does kinda make sense. You're upset because only high-end merch was selected for Product (RED). Me too... that doesn't really seem in the whole spirit of the thing, does it?

The Q should be out in mid to late Jan 2007. The Treo 700wx and Samsung U520 from what I gather come out 12/7. The only downside is with more and more Verizon phones with 2.0 MP cameras coming out why is Alltel still only running with lowend 1.3 MP cams and phones that can only expand the memory to 1GB even Midwest Wireless a company Alltel purchased has a 2.0 MP cam phone with expand memory of 2GB... and its a nice one to, what gives? its almost 2007, will it be 2008 or 2009 before we see good up to date phones from a carrier who is one or two mergers or purchases from becoming a national player.

I really don't think there's too much of a difference between a 1.3 and 2.0 megapixel device. Phone cameras, for the most part, aren't able to do what an inexpensive digital camera can. I have a camera that cost less than $100 and it's 5+ megapixel so until phones start getting to that point, 1.3 vs 2.0 megapixels isn't that big a deal, IMHO.

The Nokia 6265i is okay, I guess, but it reminds me too much of the horrible Nokia 6255i. That phone was wretched and I was very disappointed in Nokia for that, um, mistake. I'd rather have a RAZR or KRZR than the 6265i, even without a 2MP camera. Luckily, the GSM KRZR K1 has a 2MP camera but for some reason the CDMA KRZR K1m doesn't.

As far as the expandable memory, yes, 2GB would be nice but 1GB suffices and you can always have more than one micro SD card.

True its a Nokia and I dont like the 6255 either, I had when they first came out myself.. dreadful phone.. couldnt stand it... went through 6 or 7 of them myself. My point was even carriers smaller than Alltel have them beat on the MP on their cam phones. Verizon has 2.0 already beat out with 1 or 2 phones, and I know more of that type are on the way for them. Granted they cost a crap load but in time they will come down in price. Yeah you could just have 2 1GB cards for the phone, but when you can get a 2GB for under 100.00 at best buy and the 1GB is like 64.00, it saves money to just have the 2GB. Plus its one less card to keep up with. Maybe 2007 will be the year Alltel finally turns around and moves into the "NOW" both in phones and a few other things.... also hoping for a nice MetroPCS purchase or something else sometime in 2007 :D that would be sweet.

Might I remind you that Alltel had the CDMA RAZR and KRZR before or at the same time as Verizon? Alltel also has My Circle, which is a pretty impressive promotion. They're not my favorite wireless carrier but Alltel has a lot going for it... just not a 2MP camera at the moment.

True they had the RAZR before Verizon, but Verizon beat them as well as USCC to having the RAZR V3m. The KRZR came out at the same time with both Alltel and Verizon though Verizon ask less for the KRZR. Now granted this is because Verizon is freaking huge compared to Alltel. I am just saying that Alltel is going to have to step it up a notch on good high end phones if they want to have a prayer in the future. They cant keep releasing the big phones 6mons or a 1yr after other companies, or as in the case of the Treo 650 release the old one right before the new one comes out. Then ask more or the same as the other carriers want for the newer version of the phone. I like alot of stuff about Alltel, and I would really love to see them not be swallowed up by anyone else. They are going to have to get on the ball though... When the ones ahead of you are 2, 4, and almost 5 times your size... your fighting an uphill battle all the way... and My Circle cant be your only bullet.

Alltel can't get the deals with handset manufacturers like Verizon, Sprint, Cingular and T-Mobile can. They're #5 and not a national carrier so I think Alltel has a harder time competing as far as handset exclusivity.

Alltel will probably have the Motorola Q right around the same time Verizon launches an EV-DO version of the Q, just like with the Palm Treo 650. It sucks but it's the name of the game.

The Sprint & Verizon roaming agreements don't hurt Alltel, either.:browani:

This is very true, maybe as they get bigger they will get better deals... I personally cant wait til they get some higher end phones though :D I love my service with them, but the phones suck. Yes those agreements work wonders :D

What is EV-DO and will my Q, assuming Alltel every actually gets the thing, have lesser functionality because it isn't the EV-DO version?

EV-DO is basically evolution digital optimization, meaning data transfers, web access, downloads, pics and vids messages, things of that nature move much faster over the network. It also means ppl using it for inet on their laptop or the Axcess Broadband get better speeds connecting. The Q that is currently out with Verizon is no EV-DO and that is the one Alltel will be getting. More than likely the Alltel one will work just like the Verizon one. Only thing you might see with the Alltel one is they wont cripple its Bluetooth options. All in all though the Q is nothing big, many ppl really dont like it. If you do like it though it will be the same, just when the EV-DO one comes out, it will move things faster.

I just want the Q because it can get on the real-live web (not the Alltel-web) and allow me to access vendor websites, and it's not as big as an Acme brick (like my PocketPC).

The PPC 6700 has a lot to offer than the Q doesn't. For example, the PPC 6700 has the EV-DO broadband internet service, the Alltel Q won't. The PPC has a touch screen, the Q doesn't. I like the PPC a lot and I know it's larger than the Q but there are tradeoffs in going with something that thin. You may want to try the Q out for a few days before you get rid of your PPC.

The Alltel Moto Q isn't going to have EVDO? What is the point of that? I thought VZW's was EVDO when it first came out. Huh, well guess I won't be looking at that one.

    EDIT

I just checked the VZW website. The one they have currently is evdo. I'm relatively certain that they didn't make one that is not evdo. Where did you hear about that Moto?

Funny, the test units have EvDO enabled. There is absolutely no reason it will not have EvDO. I wouldn't worry...

Okay good. I was gonna have to drive down to Little Rock and show whoever made that decision a thing or two about the cell phone industry. :D
