I only had three phones on Verizon; my first was the VX3300, two years ago. The phone is very basic but I never had any reception issues with it. I still have it just in case. My 2nd was the Samsung Sch A930... all was well for the first nine months. Then the reception went down the tube... I started to drop calls and the other party could not hear me on half my calls.
This experience has me skittish about Samsung. I just got a Motorola Q in August and I am very pleased with the reception on it. All the while, I gave my mom a Motorola V325 and the phone has great reception despite the missing antenna on it. So I can reccomend Motorolas for reception... LG comes in second. I am not sure which current phone is most durable, but the V325 has taken a beating at my mom's hands.

I disagree that LG are the explative indicated as to RF. I got good RF on most of my LG's. Most in fact work where other brands would not. Good Luck with your shopping.

Moto V710/E815 can take a decent beating if you can find one.

EnV has good signal, but if you're paying full price, i'm not sure if you'd want to go that route.
