I am looking to upgrade my razr v3m soon. I use my phone mainly for the 25$ unlimited teathering service. EVDO access is a must. My question is, Which new phone would give me the best internet service? Can smartphones/PDA's able to take advantage of the 25$ unlimited teathering service or do they require a different plan?

Any help would be great, thanks.

If you went with a PDA they would probably make you switch your data plan to a more expensive one.

By "policy". Smartphones require a $30 unlimited tethering feature.

Just get one with EVDO access. If you bought a smartphone from HTC you would automatically get Rev. A. EVDO which is faster. If you bought it outright then a) you wouldn't be under contract and b) you wouldn't be stuck paying for the Smart Choice plan.

You will, however, have to pay several hundred dollars for the phone.

Thanks for the help so far, but i have a few more questions.

Is it better to go to my local provider to buy the phones or should i buy online?
If i buy online, do I take it in and have it activated, or is it activated when it comes in?
Alltel seems to have better deals on thier website than at the store, are those deals for new customers?

    thanks again.

Just go with the cheapest on the phone you want as it's all the same otherwise. Buying online I think may be different though (correct me if I'm wrong someone) as I think that's done through a third party company that does their own warranty or whatever.

You can't upgrade online; you must order it through Alltel either via phone or going into a Sales Office. Online prices are just that - ONLINE PRICES - and are not valid for upgrades.

    FYI....Those deals online for smartphones require a 2 year contract...smartchoice plan...etc.
