Just went and renewed our contract for 2 years today and after reading alot of reviews on here and other sites I got myself, husband and daughter all vx8300. Any tips or tricks you guys have for this phone?
LG Vx 8300 Tips and tricks First you need to enable the MP3 playback function. This can be done by pressing (menu, o, oooooo, scroll down to 11, enable MP3 playback. Get yourself the new 2 gig micro sd chip from Verizion.(I haven't been able to find them offered in the usual places- newegg.com, tigerdirect.com and so on) Format the drive by going to menu, settings & tools, memory, select the card memory and format the drive. This will create an MP3 folder on the MicroSD chip. Get yourself a Sandisk card reader. This is the fastest and by far easiest way to transfer music, sounds and movies to your phone. Once this is done you are going to have to change the shortcut for the play button on the front display. -Select Menu, Settings & Tools, Phone Settings, Shortcut key, Play key, MP3 You can rip your own movies - DVD, mpeg4, Avi and so on.. to 3Gp format to view them on your phone. I used www.xilisoft.com there are a couple of other programs out there some of them are free, but not as user friendly. **if you do decide to rip movies make sure you set the keyframe rate as high as possible. This will allow for faster "FF" capability. Currently you can only FF in 2sec intervals. When you do FF, pause the video first, then press FF. Obviously you can change all of your shorcut keys for the features that you will use the most most. ** Memory options** Make sure you have selected to save all of your pics and flix to your card memory. The phone is defaulted to use the phones internal memory. Download the user manual here I will post more tips and tricks later :browani:
Thanks alot...that was the kind of answer I was looking for Does the Sandisk card reader also read the micro cards that the 8300 takes?
Yes they all should come with the adapter I purchased mine 1gb from Verizon and it came with the adapter. Let me know if you have anymore questions
Great information! I'm about to purchase the 8300 (I'm about 99.9% convinced ) and it's nice to know I can take music from my computer and put it into my phone! Cool!
Does anyone know how to sync calendar or contact info with this phone? I too am a new LG-VX8300 owner, but I'm about to return it for two reasons: 1) I haven't figured out how to sync the aforementioned information, and 2) I'm having a hard time hearing with this phone. It seems to have a small sweet spot for clear listening.
I love the phone. I think its super loud. With my old phones I had to have the volume turned way up and be in a quiet setting. This phone I can have it on medium volume and be standing next to this bridge thats being torn down and hear great!!
See this website for many more tips, tricks, hacks, and mods for the LG VX8300. It has information on Bluetooth, music playing, video recording, BitPim, and more.
aezram...the application you suggest for converting mp3 to wma is only for Windows...I have a Mac...any suggestions?
Jodi, I don't have a Mac to test any out, but after quick search, may you can try one of the second two on this page? http://www.versiontracker.com/php/s...arch&str=mp3+wma+convert&plt[]=macosx&x=0&y=0 Or try download.com and search for a mac wma mp3 converter. Good luck!
When trying to format my memory card, I am asked for a 4 digit code. Does anyone know what the code might be? Is it on the packaging for the sandisk? I enabled mp3 on my LG8300, downloaded a song from my MAC to my my 1g sandisk, but I still can't figure out how to play music. Help please, in simple terms.
When you get the SD card, make sure you format it using the phone and NOT the computer. Some did it by the computer and the phone never recognized the SD card from then on. Try using BitPim to do file transfers. It is a free fostware that you can get off of the Internet. You cill have to buy a cable for the phone, though. For more info about BitPim, search the RAZR thread for BitPim and you will find instructions and where to get the software.
That device has great voice quality. Calls are loud and clear. One of the best I've experienced as a mobile phone user over the past 12 years. Even in low signal areas, it seems to hold a call quite well without degrading sound quality. Just protect that outside screen. Once you chip that plexi-glass, it becomes an eyesore. Good luck with your new toy!
Wirelessly posted (LGE-VX8300/1.0 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2 (GUI) MMP/2.0) I also feel it is the best phone i had 2 date
