Check out PhoneScoop.com for some of your answers. They list release dates but that doesn't me Verizon will offer that phone in your area.
I'm interested in the VX-6000. I'd like to see what its like in my hand. Was approved by the FCC in January.
it was but theres no analog on those phones...i dunno i gues its a mental thing eventually everything will be digital but there are those places that have no digital towers.
Verizon will need something out for the summer, besides the a530, to compete with a few high powered phones being released by Sprint (such as the Samsung a600). The LG-VX6000 and a Sony Ericsson phone are their best chances, so I am putting my money on the VX-6000 actually being released on time, which would be mid to late June.
Yeah it's been stated by Verizon insiders on HoFo that the LG vx6000 is slated to release mid-June. Today I received the same information from a VZW store rep that actually had the chance to try out the vx6000. He really liked it and also told me about the June 15th release date.
I don't think VZW will offer the 4600, but I think they will offer the 6000. I still need analog though...
I've seen some major advertising for LG vx6000. I live in southern california and vx6000 is on billboards all over town and on pages of Los Angeles Times newspaper. I think it will come out soon.
huedaephone1 - I think you are seeing the VX4400, not the VX6000. Verizon dosn't advertise a phone that is not out.
Nah budney, Verizon does this all the time. We're already seeing commercials with the v60p, and a while before the LG-VX4400 came out I saw ads for it in all of the newspapers/magazines. I think LG has some type of good reputation for having phones come out on time, so Verizon also starts their campaigns for the phones ahead of time. Whereas.. withSamsung, things seem to come out a few months late. I'm not sure if that's exactly how things work, but I'm sure you can get the idea somewhere in there. Plus, huedaphone would know the difference between the VX-6000 and the VX-4400. Bottom line.. the VX-6000 will be out on time.
Why do you feel VZW will not offer the VX4600? PhoneScoop has listed the 4600 with Verizon as the tentative carrier.
I never said they were verizon ads. It was LG ads. The ad itself never mentions that the phone is by verizon.
The do advertise ahead, to stimulate curiousity. I have seen the ads for the V60p, and it was clearly the P, cause it had a verizon logo on the fron that the i never did. Anyhow, I concur, the 4600 wont make it unless LG stops making the 4400. Why have 2 phones out on the market with the only difference being a larger acreen and O LED? They would have to drop the price of the 4400 and its a hot selling phone. Plus having then 3 phones on the market is overkill.
they did drop the price on the 4400, i believe it will start to drop out of sight between now and end of summer, the 4600 should out by fall..
huedaephone1 - OK that make much more sence to me. And sorry if I made it sound like you couldn't tell the differance between the two phone, I know you can. Just like the rest of us you keep up on this cell stuff in this forum. I just havn't seen any adds for the phone in OC from LG or Verizon, thats all. Corey - I don't remenber saying that the VX6000 wouldn't be out in time? I think there is a good chance for the phone to come out on time. The only thing that will set the date back IMO is any issues with the sending of pictures on Verizon's network. And I understand that Verizon can start advertising a week or two early, but to advertise a phone over a month or two early would not be smart IMO. Too many things could happen with the phone and/or the network in that amount of time. And as far as the V60 in the commercials, it's a V60i with a special cover made for there commercials. This has been talked about a lot over at HoFo. The phone has been in many commercials since the beginning of the year. Which is way before V60p ever got FCC approval (4/11/03).
I know you never mentioned it not coming out on time, I was just explaining why the phone would be advertised early as opposed to the Samsung a530. It could be just an LG ad, as huedaephone mentioned, or a Verizon ad. I've seen both about three months for the VX-4400 before it came out. Either or, Verizon is making the final decision on when the phone is appearing, so for them (LG and Verizon) to advertise early means they are confident in the phone making a smooth release, on time with no problems.
