How do wireless carriers plan to milk subscribers as growth slows?

I was a bit excited to see these programs at first. I'm with AT&T. Though, its clear and has been clearly stated that people who utilize the Next program will be paying twice for the same phone. That is a deal breaker.

Yeah, I won't be participating in it either. What sucks is I've gotten used to upgrading at 16 months.

T-Mobile's JUMP isn't too shabby but, I'm not willing to put up with their network either. So I'm sticking with what I have and know. AT&T works for me. Has issues in only a couple of spots...certainly not enough to warrant leaving. So, my derrière is staying put. LOL

As a Verizon user with unlimited data, I won't be leaving it. And Verizon's take on the upgrade program leaves a lot to be desired. I would have to forfeit my unlimited data AND pay full price for a phone? GTFOH! I will just pay retail (or ebay) and retain my plan. It is discount laden.

AT&T works the best for me here and all the places I need to used my phone, and I will keep doing what I usually do, alternate between buying full price and on contract. So borrowing from SteveB's post - my derrière is staying put. :D

I do tend to change my phones a lot. I easily see this as an opportunity for me to continue to do that but, seriously, I'm not on T-Mobile and AT&T's and VZW's plans just aren't good in any sense of the word. If there was some kind of price drop in plans then I would go for it. However, I do not want to look like a fool. LOL

Yeah, AT&T has the best coverage for me, plus I love my grandfathered unlimited LTE data plan for $25/mo.

I agree with you Quint. There is no way I will leave my discounted unlimited data (with four lines on a FS plan) any time soon! Verizon will have to force us off the plan before we switch (although I am sure that will most likely come at some point in the near future).

While these new upgrade plans are not great. I could maybe see myself using "Next" if in a certain situation. But I surely wouldn't switch carriers based on the best upgrade plan.
