I was just wondering if anyone had visited Cingular.com lately? They revamped it. I'm not sure what I think of it yet, I'm just playing around right now... ~*Ash*~
I found the OLAM a little confusing, because it was different from what I was used to, and I had to hunt for the login link. Login used to be right on the main screen. -jay
The site update is LONG overdue. I like the way it looks, but I'm not so sure about some of the navigation. I like to see all phones, not flips/clamshells/candybars/PDAs separated. I found a way around it, but.... Nice improvement, though, Cingular.
Odd thing about this sprint just redid their site as well, wonder if Verizon, Alltel, and Tmobile will follow suit.
Their phone finder is a lot easier to navigate, and sorting by price really does give you the bottom line. The old site used to sort the phones by retail price, not including rebates, which put some free phones in with the $50 - $100 phones. -Jay
Yeah! I like the interactive street level map which includes 3G coverage. It confirms what I had thought, that not all towers in my area were 3G. It shows my house as being about 100 yards outside of the 3G coverage area. No wonder I have problems locking onto 3G inside the house, but it works on the porch. -Jay
The new site does have a number of improvements. I like the way my bill is presented - its easier to understand than the way they print it on paper. I also like the Current Usage display, which is right up front on the Account Overview page The whole Account Overview page is designed a bit like a portal - You can see summaries of all the pertinent information categories, and you have the ability to click and get more details. This is cool. Couple of issues. - The new main page asks you if you are a personal or business user. Then it sets a cookie, so you don't have to see that page every time. If you clear your cookies you have to go through this additional click. - When I clicked on Phone/Device, Cingular didn't know what phone I have. This is despite the fact that I got it at a Cingular company store, have received a warranty exchange, have dealt with Customer Support many times, etc., etc. This is just unbelievable. - Lots of things are not working right in Firefox/Mac OSX. Login fails in various ways. The layout of the Search result page is obviously messed up. IE6/WindowsXP seems OK. SW
It does look like Verizon redid their main page, for selecting phones & plans but not as big of a change as Cingular did. I like the changes they did & they seem to be working on any issues daily with the site. Since I am new to OLAM, any changes they did to it doesn't bother me, I only used it for less then a month.
I guess this is the pre-christmas advertising brush up. Would make sense but if that's true all but tmob are running a wee bit late.
definitely.......but all we need to do now is wait for Verizon and Alltel.......and Sprint has only changed their main page......they havent really changed the shopping area yet
Verizon has actually updated their site recently. Phones images now show both open and closed. They also have continued to tweek their main page a bit over the last few months. It's about time that the major players make some improvements to their sites. They were starting to look a little dated..
your right.......Verizon has made tweeks over a long period of time.......but its so much fun when the go from 1-10 in one leap instread of going 1.....2....3....4....5................its fun to see such a big change that you almost have a stroke.........
The account manager has been like that for a couple of months already, long before this redesign. So besides the colors it has not changed for me. One thing I did notice is they are steering away from the orange themed designs they had and turning things more blueish. I guess that's so when the rebranding happens it isn't such a drastic change. You can blame that on one of the great things about GSM: The ability to put your SIM on any phone. Therefore, there's no way for the Account Manager to know which phone you have today, so they rather let you pick the phone. I always use Firefox and haven't had any problems on any areas of the new site. Logging in to Account Manager has no issues for me. One thing about the old website is that it was getting cluttered, so I really like the new design. The only thing I don't like is that the page to send a text message is buried and very hard to find.
The old OLAM knew what phone I had without me entering it. This one doesn't seem to remember once I log out. -Jay
I had just the opposite experience. I once set my phone under the old OLAM, but it didn't remember it. When I tried again later, it didn't even list my phone, anymore. When I checked the new OLAM, my phone was once again displayed.
So, you mean the old OLAM automatically updated and knew which phone you had based on which phone is using your SIM card? I have to see that to believe it.
This isn't anything high tech. As Jay said, it's simply a matter of being able to store something in your profile. I was surprised it was missing, but willing to enter my phone model again in the new OLAM. The next time I logged in, my phone model was still unknown. SW
