My plan is up for renewal and I am opting for the Nationwide Plus Canada plan. Regarding the phones, I have a share plan with my wife. We both have the Razr V3M phones. I plan to upgrade to the env2 phone, however, she does not want to change phones, since she is happy with hers. My question is what if she wants to upgrade later this year or next? Anyone know if I only have a short window to upgrade, then the offer is gone?

Her line should still be eligible for an upgrade at a later time.

Once any line is eligible for an upgrade, it stays that way until you upgrade!

And to add what others have said, the "new every 2" deal only really affects the primary line on the account. That's where the NE2 $100 or $50 discount applies. There is no NE2 additional money off the promo price on other family plan lines. It's just the straight promo pricing, of which never expires and isn't reset until it is used.

I don't know if this is exactly true. I couple of years ago, when we still had the family plan, we walked in to get our NE2 and I was under the impression that the main line (which is mine) was going to be the only one eligible for the upgrade credit. When we walked in, the CSR gave both lines the credit and we both walked out with free phones.

I don't know if it was a mistake or what, but there was no haggling of getting the NE2 for both phones. We now have separate lines and dissolved the family plan as I use my phone for 80% business, so it's no longer an issue.

If you got the extra $50 or $100 off the promo price on both lines, then you got very lucky. The extra NE2 money is only for the main line. The second line (or multiples) just get the promo discount. This has been my experience in the past.

At least this is what the NE2 rule has been. It wouldn't surprise me if the rep didn't know any better. I'm sure they have more leeway to apply discounts than Verizon would like.

One thing to keep in mind. If your wife gets a new phone at the promotional price, your 2 year contract will restart at the date she activates the new phone. This won't affect your promotional pricing or NE2, but will affect your ability to switch carriers without incurring an ETF.
