I just flashed my new Verizon V3m to the V3c .06 Alltel firmware yesterday and I must say Wow! Verizon service with an unmolested phone is the best combo I could have. Now that has me doing even more research and this is where I dead end. I read that Alltel recently released a V3m, and I'm wondering if there if anybody has access to the firmware for this phone so I can get 100% original functionality from my V3m.
Stephen, you and 1000's others including myself are waiting desperately for this to get released. I think the only one who isnt, is my fiancee...she was the beneficiary of my 1gb microSD card since i turned my phone into a v3c. I will be re-acquiring this as soon as the v3m flash gets out.
Just got a V3m today...and like everyone else here, I hate the UI and all the restrictions that Verizon has put on it. Honestly, I'm thinking of sending it back, unless the Alltel firmware is leaked before my trial period is up. Come on, someone leak it edit: Cincyball, why will it be possible for you to flash UP to the Alltel V3m fw from the V3c fw you have on there....yet its not possible to flash back to the VZM fw?
You can flash back to VZW firmware. The problem with v3m owners is as you know, if u flash a v3m to any other firmware (typically alltel), that essentially turns it into a v3c, since there is NO v3m firmware out there. (well, there is the updated v3m .09 f.w, but it is an upgrade flash instead of a full flash file, so there are some things missing). So technically, I could flash back to Verizon v3c if I wanted to, or I could flash to Verizon .09 v3m firmware, but it is still very buggy. So if Alltel's v3m firmware gets released in the same manner its 4.04 and now 4.06 f/w did, we could just flash to that, and it would re-enable the tf card slot. What makes the card slot not work now is the v3c doesnt have that option on the phone, therefore it was never written into the firmware.
