No, they aren't airing nationally. They are only going to air in the Trust markets not absorbed by VZW (which isn't much).

Yup, I see them a lot on WLOS-TV, ABC 13 in Asheville, NC (which was never an Alltel area),
only about 15-20% of the WLOS-TV's total viewing area, (around 10% of viewers) are in the Trust markets.

WLOS-TV covers around 25 NC Counties & 10 SC Counties.
7 rural South Carolina counties in the viewing area are divested.

None of Western NC had Alltel, and that TV station, even though it serves the Western Carolinas,
they tend to emphasize Asheville (WLOS stands for Wonderful Land Of Sky),
and all newscasts lean towards Western NC, and rarely mention South Carolina.

I have also seen these commercials on cable, but perhaps it's local cut-ins by my cable company
    (Charter Communications).

It's not surprising these ads speak to only a small fraction of the TV market. Alltel's always been known to air commercials in areas they're unavailable (though I know the national ads on cable were a different situation than this).

So if they are airing them in a large TV market, then we'll get lots of customer confusion,
from people who thought that Alltel already went to Verizon.
And we'd probably get a flood of customers from retained areas in the divested stores,
(if a customer wants to travel 30-50+ miles to find a store).

Secondly, the Western Carolinas are home to around 2.5 million people,
(1.3 million in Upstate SC & over 1 million in Western NC)
and around 500,000 people in Upstate South Carolina are in divested counties.

The Hickory, NC market is also divested (Metro population of around 350,000),
but this is part of the Charlotte TV market.

Still, a large majority of the population is in retained markets.
