Ok guys, I know I haven't been posting much...but I kinda need your help right now... Michelle, someone very close to me and another member here (she's the M1 in the Bad @$$ thread) has a 14 yr old half German shepherd and half Rottie named Tango that is very sick. He just had a needle biopsy done on his lung (no anesthesia, and he didn't bark or whine, what a trooper). Under X-ray, his lung appears to be milky, which isn't right because lungs shouldn't show up on x-ray. This dog is absolutely amazing. He loves children and old people, takes a liking to the female persuasion, but he's really a guy's dog. You can really count on Tango to sit at your feet when you're feeling grouchy and keep you company. Tango's paid his dues, as he is a former police dog, retired. Michelle is waiting on the cytology and the pathology report from the biopsy. We're hoping hoping hoping it's not cancer. Don't really want much from you guys, just to wish him luck, keep him in your prayers, and join me in hoping that everything will be ok... He's my bro... Here's a pic I took a couple weeks ago on my VX6100 (this is a cell phone forum after all)
Being an animal lover myself, I hope everything turns out Ok for him. My black lab is currently in a similar kind of condition. He is 15 and doesnt get around very well anymore- aches and pains from old age. I hope her dog gets better and pulls through. I hate to see any dog or other animals suffer.
Hey, have you tried giving your dog glucosamine *Garbage and Poison*? Michelle's dog was like that for a couple years, then started on glucosamine...a few days later, she noticed the butter dish was on the floor...Tango jumped on her counter and ate all of it! (yeah, that's gross) He was previously unable to do that, he could barely lie down without a loud thud, because his back legs were weak. Glucosamine chondoitin usually takes a couple months to rebuild joints, but it has anti-inflammatory properties that go into effect relatively quickly. There's a special one for canines, and I can find out the brand if you want.
Yellow, hey bro, sorry to hear about Tango, i definitely hope that everything turns out ok and wish him the best for a fast recovery.... Keep us posted.
I wish Tango & all of you the best of luck with this & will say a prayer. I know we have a 14 Y/O dog & he's starting to show signs of his age and he is part of the family, so I know where your coming at.
Cute dog Yello....I bet he is the best. Those retired police dogs will do anything for it's owner(s) Thoughts and prayers are with you, M1 and Tango.
Hope he's okay, My favorite pet died last week, He didn't show any signs he was sick until about 24 hours before he died. It was a cat I have had for about eight years, he was pretty cool, he could paly fetch, and would always come sit next to me (even when I didn't want him to.) He had emergency surgery for a blatter blockage, but died then next day. I used to complain about him all the time, (especially when changing the litter box.) but now that the little guy is gone, I see why people try to clone the little fur balls.
Sorry to hear about your friend's dog Yello. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Michelle, and Tango. I am also sorry to hear about your cat WirelessBeachBum. My thoughts and prayers are also with you and your family.
Thanks gamer03, the sad thing is I could only find one picture of my cat, with digital camera's and digital phones lying all over my house, I only have one picture. Most of my pictures are of my children, I guess I need to get a few of the cat's and dogs....
Thank you all so much for your support. You guys rock! The tests from Tango's examination came back last night...inconclusive! So the torturous wait continues. He's still perky, despite what's going on with him, and he's a total trooper. It means a lot to both M1 and myself that you guys care about this pup. WBB, sorry to hear about your cat. We just went through something similar almost a year ago with M1's mom's dog. He was doing pretty well, then developed cancer in what seemed overnight. All my best to you and your family. Kranium, the brand of glucosamine that Tango's been using is called Restor-aflex, extra strength, made by Fort Dodge Animal Health Pharmaceuticals. It really worked wonders on Tango.
Is this a prescription one? or a Supplement? My Golden Lab has the same condition & we have him on a Prescription & it's a little expensive, but it does work well. Also sorry the test results came back as inconclusive & causing everyone more worry, Hope you get Good news early.
I'm pretty sure it's a supplement, I'll let you guys know. The lab results should be back by tomorrow night, thanks for all your concern. You guys are the heat!
I hope everything turns out ok Yello. And sorry to hear about your cat WBB. I am more of a cat person myself, and have lost a few to coyotes (in CA) so I can certainly empathize.
I heard several stories on our news and in our paper about different people around Florida loosing their dog or cat to alligators.
A lady that works in the local Verizon store lost her dog about six months ago to an alligator, she had one of those little tiny purse size dogs, long story short she let him out on her back deck, maint. workers had moved her baby gate without her knowledge and a few minutes later her neighbors called to tell her her pup just got polished off by a big gator. She was pretty sad for awhile...that size dog has many natural predators, owls, hawks and eagles will pick them up as well. YellowMunky how is Tango doing?
We're STILL waiting on the vet, though he put Tango on some antibiotics over the weekend just in case it was something fungal or bacterial, and his appetite is coming, back, so that's a good sign...I'll keep you guys updated as info comes in! Thanks everyone!
Update: Tango seems to be doing pretty well, we still have no idea what's going on inside him. He's got another appt this weekend, and I'll be heading out to SoCal to give M1 a hand if Tango has to go through surgery. Thanks for all your support, kids.
Update: well, they never figured out what's wrong with Tango, but they suspect that it's atypical pneumonia now after the most recent x-ray shows no change in his lung (if it was cancer, there would most likely be an increase in the cloudy material). He's on two different antibiotics at the moment, and he's been recovering! He should be up for another check up this weekend. Thank you everyone for your well wishes and prayers. Michelle, Tango and myself feel very lucky to have friends like you guys.
Good to hear things are better with Tango Yello, thanks for keeping us up to date.... Hey on a different note, where's grumpy Delta?
ishing you the best of luck and no idea about the lungs but a simple asprin a day will help the hip for the painfulful back legs. Rottie have a history of hip displyasia best of luck and keep us informed.
