    HELLO,
Can anyone help me out ?? I've been with AT&T SINCE IT WAS AT&T WIRELESS & I have a NEC 525 & I finished my contract obligation of 2 years ;about 5 years ago & am on a Month to Month Now & want the phone to be unlocked as I was told by Several AT&T CSR & their Bosses . So can anyone help me & Provide me with the Sub City Unlock for the NEC 525 ;this is what they called it . To me it's just the unlock code from the provider . I don't know why the USA Providers don't do what the European providers Do . They sell the phones Already Unlocked & if one doesn't finish their 2 year agreemnt ;they must pay the remaining contract off & if buying a prepaid cell phone ;after 2 years they'll Unlock it for you . So why doesn't the USA providers do the same for their Customers ??? Maybe our Elected Official will Force them to do it ; I hope . So Please Help .

It is called a "subsidy code," because the carrier reduces the price of the phone to induce you to sign up with its service. So that you will not take the reduced price phone and fly the coop, the phone is locked so that it only work with that carrier's SIM cards.

    See whether the attached works.

Why would you reply to a thread which is over four years old? With irrelevant information to boot. The NEC 525 is not Symbian powered and there is no attachment to your message.

Uriah: Unless the policies of this board have changed (and I don't think they have) the moderators of WirelessAdvisor has consistently indicated they do not get involved with these requests. If you own the phone, the best thing is to go to your carrier (I note you indicate you are in India) and see if they are willing to help you. There are both legal and ethical reasons for this stance.

Due to the large amount of spam this thread is attracting, I am closing it. If you have a phone you need unlocked, it is best to contact your carrier and have them take care of it for you.
