I have a BlackBerry Curve 8530 that was on Sprint. I now have Straight Talk as my provider. I want use my Blackberry Curve with my Straight Talk. They are both CDMA. I purchased the MSL code and did the required steps to swap the phone. It reset but was not successful. I contacted the company that I purchased my MSL from, they said it was possible to do but I needed to contact Straight Talk and get my MSIN. (Mobile Station Identification Number). I called Straight Talk and talked to several different reps and not one of them nor their supervisor new what I was looking for. Can anyone help me accomplish swapping the phone? Any information is hugely appreciated!!

I haven't heard of an MSIN.

All CDMA phones have MDNs (mobile device number) and the MSID, which is the Mobile Subscriber ID.

The MDN = your phone number. The MSID is usually a different phone number in your same calling area (but not necessarily same area code). The MSID is how your carrier finds your phone on their network.

The trickier part will be to get a Verizon PRL onto the Sprint phone (otherwise the Sprint phone will think it is supposed to connect only to Sprint and won't connect to the Verizon towers that StraighTalk uses).

In my area StraightTalk uses AT&T (GSM), but you may be able to find a local store than can "flash" your phone for use on StraighTalk. It isn't going to be as easy as simply programming your phone number, however.

Even though you paid for the MSL, it may be easier for you just to buy a Verizon BlackBerry and sell your Sprint one.

Ok. I will give it a try. One last question. If they give me that number, where the heck do I input it in my phone lol?

After they give you the MSID, you will need to enter the programming mode.

Press the green talk button, then dial ##XXXXXX then press talk again. (The XXXXXX is the 6 digit lock code)

Then you need to go to "EDIT" (I think). The BlackBerry menu is a bit different.

In the Mobile Directory Number field, type your phone number. Then scroll down to the field called "IMSI_S" and enter your MSID.

Once you have done that I think the phone will reboot.

Thanks so much. I remember seeing that information on the CDMA Edit screen. I will give it a whirl and get back with you. I am going to call them right now and see if they will give me that information. Have a great weekend!

Hey do you by chance know how I can go about getting a LG Rumor 2 on Sprint currently to switch over to Straight Talk?

It would be pretty similar. You would need the 6 digit lock code for the rumor, then you would enter ##XXXXXX# which will take you directly to the edit screen. Choose edit, then enter the MDN (phone number) and MSID and then select "done" and the phone will reboot.
