Ok, I have the e1 and next to my treo it is my favorite phone but I can't stand how unstable cingular phones are because of the crap with their firmware that they put on the phones. I was able to hack the firmware on my treo and get all the cingular junk off, is there a way I can do this with my rocker and where do I go please?

It's not so much as them disabling features but they do in some cases. The problem is that cingular's firmware that they put into phones is unfortunatly unstable with motorola and palm. For instance, the rocker from moto themself just generic gsm works perfectly, when we sold at cingular 4 out 5 came back. Same went with the treo 650 until they went through 5 different firmware updates until they got it right. Every motorola, just about, bought from cingular WILL :censored: up quicker than any other phone. Something about cingular's firmware and motorola's firmware don't like to play well with each other. The only way to fix this problem without continously switching them out, till you get a good one, is to wipe the sucker clean of everything that has to do with cingular. I love my rocker and don't want a slvr cause it's too thin. Other manufactures like sony ericsson, lg, nokia and so on may come across this problem but not normally.

The only features that I am aware that Cingular disables are Engineering mode, advanced network setup, display of true network name, & Manual network selection. Everything else should be merely cosmetic.

I think some of the Bluetooth capabilities are being limited in some of the newer phones....like file transfers. Not positive but read that somewhere.

I don't believe OBEX (File Transfers) have been limited on any cingular branded phones, although this is common with the Verizon equivalents.

The only phone that cingular has done that with is the samsung c417. You can't do a file transfer with bluetooth. Only used for an earpiece.

Actually researching the phone, cingular did no such thing, it just wasn't developed for Samsung since this is such a cheap phone.

My bad....this is probably why I thought Cingular did it. I thought there was a Samsung phone with limited BT.

There is a lot of great FW for your phone out there without any branding (Cingular). Some MonsterPacks have added some great features. PM me, I can tell you where to find some. MoMo is a good place to start.
