This map is showing Dobson areas as native coverage. As of christmas day 2007, this map is not showing at least 13 markets that are currently live, they are as follows: http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Mount_Vernon_WA.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Lake_Tahoe_CA.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Fort_Smith_AR.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Minneapolis_MN.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Reno_NV.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Buffalo_NY.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Rochester_NY.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/CorpusChristi_TX.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/McAllen_TX.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Victoria_TX.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Newport_News_VA.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Richmond_VA.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Mount_Vernon_WA.pdf http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/maps/Carson_City_NV.pdf In addition to other current expansions in other markets (D.C. is one of them). Word from the inside is that there is a major on going 3G push, with claims of near equal coverage to that of EVDO by mid 2008 :
Do you know when westchester NY is going ot get it. ONly part of it has it. However, most if it doesnt.
The 3G maps need updating. I was just driving down I-66 & the Prince William Parkway yesterday and I had 3G service down to Gainesville, and down the PW Parkway until about 1/2 mile from the intersection with Rt 28. According to the coverage maps 3G should be pretty dead once you pass 28 on I-66. That's at least an extra 10 - 12 miles of coverage not shown on the maps. I would assume if the coverage extended that far that Manassas is all 3G now, but I did not drive through Manassas, I took the bypass. -Jay
Anyone know which AT&T phones actually support 3G? I tried to find a list on their website, but surprisingly enough didn't see one
Some at&t phones that are 3G: Samsung SYNC Nokia 6555 Samsung A737 Samsung Blackjack Samsung Blackjack II LG CU515 Samsung A717 Nokia N75 Samsung A727 LG Shine LG Trax Motorola Razr V3xx Samsung SLM Motorola RAZR2 V9 Pantech Duo Moto Q (Global) Palm Treo 750 At&t Tilt
It used to be in the phone finder you could select 3G as a phone feature to search. I don't know if its still there. -Jay
I just looked, you cannot search by 3G anymore, but all 3G phones have the 3G icon. Just look on the list of phones, the 3G icon is highlighted in this example. -Jay
yea, I believe the D.C. area including VA is still undergoing 3G expansion, it will probably be on the map the next time they update it though
I can't wait until they get 3G at Mom's house. Her area is still EDGE only, but 3G is getting closer! -Jay
Try this link: devCentral | Device Home You have to be a member to see details about devices. From reading what I could, membership is not free.
Here is a list on Phonescoop that has all current and upcoming 3G phones AT&T carries. -Jay Phone Finder Results (Phone Scoop)
I was in Manassas today. I received a 3G signal along Sudley Road, in Old Town and along Centreville Road heading north through Manassas Park to Interstate 66.
So from Centreville (Where 3G stops on the map) I went down 66 to Gainesville, then back up to the PW Parkway and had solid 3G service until about 1/2 mile from the intersection of the PW parkway and Rt 28. You had 3G from old town up 28 to Centreville. I'm guessing everything in the middle is filled in with 3G except for a small portion of 28 between the PW parkway and old town. (probably less than a mile). -Jay
They turned it up about a week or so ago and it extends down 29 to 15 almost hitting Vint Hill. This is literally something that wasn't up until the new year. It's about time. Now they need to finish into Warrenton and connect through PW county down to Dumfries.
yea i was just about to say, Rochester became 3G a few months back and a few other places. No need to Update it now really though....as there will be about 100 more 3G areas by the end of 08. half of those by the summer. Expect to see all semi-major cities covered and corodores between some (i.e. highway between Birmingham and Montgomery after Montgomery is 3G) Also by the end of 08 almost all Metro areas of FL will be 3G which is amazing! Also i believe they are penciled in to get HSPA before anyone in the larger cities like Miami/ATL/SF/LA/NY by the end of 08 or early 09 (can we say 6MB/sec via wireless? )
I think that national 3G map was done seprately, So AT&T would have to do it. I did notice that the holes in OC, CA are getting smaller.
This link lists all the 3G areas as of 01/31/08: AT&T 3G pop-up Many of the locations which had PDF files in the previous map are now integrated into the main map.
The maps were upgraded again. As of 4/30/08. However, I don't see much difference besides them becoming much more conservative in their estimates. And their may have been a few markets here in the midwest they converted to 3G, but not many.
