I tried to access my voicemail last night and instead of getting a PIN prompt,
I got a message you'd get if you were calling my phone, but with an added message says "you will be able to leave a brief message once the mailbox is available again".

Same problem in the morning, so I called and dealt with this idiot CSR who says my voice mail had been turned off somehow, so went through about six phone on-off cycle while I was getting increasingly frustrated on the landline.

My voice mail is still inaccessible as of now. I'm not at home at the moment, but this CSR demands I provide the physical address of where I am at now as well as the voice mail PIN. Like that's gonna happen.

What is the deal with this?

Power-cycling the phone isn't going to resolve your voicemail problem. Apparently, there was either a failure in their voicemail system, or yours was deactivated.

I would call VZW again and ask to speak to Technical Support. They should be able to troubleshoot the problem and fix it.

It has been my experience that CSRs regardless for what type of company dealing with technology only work with a "limited" script. If your problem does not have an entry in their script they are totally at a loss to assist you.

As soon as you determine that they are off the script request to be connected to technical support. While they also work off of a script for the mundane technical problems they are the ones that can go off script and troubleshoot problems.
