I was calling the other line on my account, which is on VZW. And the only way to fix the soft capactiy limit of CDMA is to add networks, not merge networks together. Merging networks doesn't make them bigger, it puts more customers onto one merged network, which aggrevates the soft cap limit.

(Soft cap limit-more people on the network, the less reliable the network becomes.)

However, to not be in violation of the law, Verizon has kept as little of the AMPS online as they can, but they have already begun shutting it down. My VZW rep roomate confirmed this.

If Verizon shuts down 42 AMPS contiguous channels (1.25 MHz/ 0.030 MHz = 41.667), it can put up another CDMA carrier for its digital only phones at a particular site (and sector) on the 850 MHz band. Both uplink and downlink carriers required!

This shrinks analog availability. There is room for a few AMPS channels between adjacent CDMA carriers.

Sorry if I did not express myself clearly enough. When I talk about merging "networks" I was talking about merging SIDs together, which has NOTHING to do with capacity. To add capacity, carriers have to add T-1 lines and "cards" at the base of the cell site, that's a different issue than merging/eliminating SIDs. Ask your VZW rep roomate.

Sprint coverage from a professional ok, sprint's main focus was major cities and highways according to the population for the placement of their towers so when they cam in to rural areas with a smaller population the towers are fewer and spaced far apart where there are alot of dead spots and coverage holes amd roaming,
sprint is not a rural carrier sprint has poor service in rural areas and the customer service is horrible.
on the other hand verizon and alltel are rural carriers their main focus was rural and major cities they started out in the rural areas verizon has im proved their network in the last couple of years which is now almost as large as alltel verizon has rude customer service but good service.

Why was there a need to bring an almost year old thread back to life?
