    Sprint Palm Treo 755p Review

    What Came In The Box:

    1. Treo 755p
    2. Standard Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Battery
    3. AC Travel Charger with Adapter
    4. USB Data Cable
    5. Headset

    Pros:

    • Excellent screen (I can see the screen in direct sunlight even with the brightness turned down to conserve battery life)
    • Excellent battery life (with extended battery)
    • Easy to use (especially one-handed)
    • Built-in Sprint Picture Mail
    • Excellent signal strength (slightly better strength than my Sprint Mogul)
    • Loud ring tones (once installing and tweaking Volume Care)

    Cons:

    • No WiFi (I only used this twice when I had my Sprint Mogul
    • No built-in voice dialing (third party software can correct this)
    • Camera is average (Palm needs to release a device that has a 2 MP camera)
    • Low to moderate ring tones in noisy environments (this is easily corrected with Volume Care [see below])
    • Moderate battery life (with the stock battery, I managed to get a little over 3 hours of talk time which is excellent for a PDA considering what other devices get)

What It Lacks as a Phone:

    • No voice dialing
    • Only a 1.3 MP average quality camera
    • Low to moderate ring tones in noisy environments

What it Lacks as a PDA:

    • No WiFi
    • No 2.0 MP camera

    Programs that I installed:

    • CorePlayer
    • MiniTones
    • Pocket Tunes Deluxe
    • SlingPlayer Mobile
    • TWC
    • Volume Care
    • ZLauncher

Reviews of Programs (scale of 1 to 5):

CorePlayer (nice program to view movies and videos but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet): ?
MiniTones (a nice program to put mp3 clips on your phone for high-quality ring tones): 5
Pocket Tunes Deluxe (a nice program that lets you play songs on your phone): 5
SlingPlayer Mobile (a nice program that lets me stream my Slingbox Pro to my phone): 5
TWC: (I am having issues getting this registered so Handango is currently helping me resolve this issue): ?
Volume Care (a nice program that boosts the volume to loud levels and I can hear my custom ring tones now in very noisy environments): 5
ZLauncher (a launcher that can be customized with your own background and customized icons, font colors, etc.): 5

    Accessories that I Purchased:

Sprint Extended Battery and Door for Treo 755p (2200 mAh)

    • Sprint Extended battery that allows me to now get approximately 5 to 6 days of life when talking minimally on the phone
    • I can get about a day to a day and a half with heavy use (1.5 hours of phone calls, about 1.5 to 2 hours of surfing the internet, and having my email checked every 1 hour)
    • Talk time (on a full charge, I can get approximately 4.5 to 5 hours of talk time with the extended battery)

    Would I Recommend This Device:

Yes, I would recommend this device due to my Pros and that this is a easy device to use one-handed and it is easy to get used to. Also, I couldn't believe it when I found out all of the customization that you can do with this Palm OS device. In my opinion, this has almost as much customization as WM devices.

Thanks walkguru. I really like this device a lot and I definitely recommend Palm devices if you are ever in the market for a PDA.

Thanks Charlyee. Yes, I am very happy with it. I hope I have finally found my device. I think that I have. One thing that made me sell my Mogul was because the picture mail hack was taken away and the onscreen virtual keyboard was a pain and sliding out the keyboard to text or send a short email was a pain. This device allows me to send texts and short emails one-handed which is definitely a big plus for me.

Great review Eric. I was considering getting the Verizon version with my recent upgrade, but opted against any smartphone because of VZ's hideously expensive data plans.

It's good to know that the 755p is working out for you. Enjoy!

Thanks Mike. Yes, Verizon data plans are very expensive. That is one of the reasons that I got a SERO plan last year.

So are you on a SERO 500 plan now walkguru besides AT&T? That is a nice device. I am actually trying to talk my mom into this phone when we switch in August. But by then, hopefully they will have more options available.

Ahh I see. That is one of the things that I like about SERO. You do get a lot of bang for the buck.

I have to say that as much as I wanted a PDA on Verizon for my upgrade, I'm thoroughly enjoying the LG Voyager. The phone is much better than I thought! :D

Well if Verizon wasn't bad in my neighborhood, and we weren't switching to Sprint in August, the Voyager most likely would have been my next phone.
