Pros: Excellent battery life Bright, clear screen Easy to use menus Thin Excellent audio quality Excellent signal quality People comment on how thin and cool the phone is Cons: Earpiece and speakerphone volume could be louder (editing the phone took care of that) Ringtone list short (imo) Annoying sound when I change the volume (again, editing can take care of that) Camera could be better Overall, I am extremely happy with the Motorola Razr V3. The audio and service (Cingular) is excellent everywhere that I travel to (home, school, and other places). In my opinion, the service (Cingular) and the phone deserves two thumbs up.
I agree with all but one of your points. The only one that is different for me is the Ringtone list. I have an unlocked Euro version and there are more ringers than I've ever seen on a Motorola phone before. For as many as there are, they're aren't all that good and many are the same as on other Moto's I own. Um, I can't share your sentiments about Cingular due to my bad experience with them, but yes the phone deserves two thumbs up. Enjoy your new Black RAZR!!
Good review Gamer. A coworker of mine ordered the Black Razr from Amazon. She should get it this friday.
The RZR STILL doesn't apeeal to me. I would take the v635 first. Maybee the CDMA RAZR will be just thick enought to make it worth it.
Having both, I would agree with you on the V635. I tend to use that phone more than the RAZR, though I still love the V3. I still treat the RAZR with kid gloves. It's hardly ever out of the leather case that came with it. I do NOT want to scratch it!!
Well, I will have to agree with you there. The Razr has more ringtones on it than my old Motorola 120t. But I can add ringtones with my camera's usb cable so I am all set.
Thanks twopiece. I hope your coworker gets likes her Razr once she receives it. Did she also sign up for a plan on Amazon?
Yes, Cingular certainly is working out for me. I chose the Razr because my WA buddies said that they liked theirs.
I also keep my Razr in a leather case. I bought one at my mall since I didn't like Cingular's choices.
Yes, she chose the $39.99 plan with rollover. The phone will wind up being free after Amazon's MIR for $150.00 . That's a real sweet deal IMO.
Yes that is a sweet deal. Too bad I didn't want to sign a two year agreement. Otherwise, I would have probably ended up buying the phone on Amazon (at least I think I would have).
You have to edit a file called gain_table.bin in your phone's OS. Read my modding thread linked in my signature. -Jay
Jay !! Thanks man ! After reading your review I was able to find Motorola drivers and Volume Table 1.05. I adjusted the volumes on my RazR phone and it's LOUDER.
As a matter of fact, I edited the Gain Table on my mother's L2 today. She couldn't hear it ring in her purse, and when talking to her there was an awful echo, so I boosted her ringtone volume, and cut back her mic sensitivity. Now it works great! -Jay
Oh man, My RazR crapped out. There was fuzz on reception and my mic didn't work. Had to go and get it exchanged, it was only 3 days old. I edited the gain table on the new one with Gain Table 1.05 again. I also added a new skin "XenonAB" with Skin Manager. It's awesome now. Couldn't have done it without help. Thanks again for all the help !!
Has anyone purchased the Phone Tools software? I have and I cannot get the Multi Media Studio to work. I've read a lot of the posts and tried some of the recommendations but I just can't make it work. Worse than that, I've listed a couple of posts trying to get help and haven't gotten any replies. I know I'm probably way behind everyone else with this but I still need some help if someone would please answer. Thanks...Vince
Before anyone can begin to help you we need to know what model phone you are using, and who your service provider is. -Jay
Gain Table 1.05....this a new utility? I will have to search around. I bumped up the volume on my Razr but did it old skool...with P2K and some hex editor...can't remember the name.
If it is out of her purse it is loud, but the point was to make it loud enough to be heard even when her purse was closed. She was missing calls because she couldn't hear it ring. -Jay
