Now, I have been looking online about the T-Mobile issue with the Motorola A1200 Ming and receiving picture messages. Most of the websites I have visited have the same settings but none has work for me. One thing I have noticed is that no one has mention one detail that is happening to me.... and I'm not sure if this is part of the reason why it doesn't get to work. Anyways, so far this are the settings I have used Network Profile Goto Menu > Setup > Data Network > Profile > Edit (if you want to edit the current profile) or New (if you want to create a new one) Profile Name: TMobile (is up to you what name to choose) APN: wap.voicestream.com Timeout: 15 Minutes Primary IP 216.155.165.50 (some people use 050 on the last set which is the same than just 50) Port: 8080 Baud Rate: 9600 Line Type: ISDN Save everything *The rest of the options on the profile stay blank MMS PRofile Goto your Messages > Service Setup > Multimedia Message > Click on the Folder icon under Default Pofile and create a new MMS Profile Profile Name: TMobile MMS (is up to you what name to choose) MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms (now on a website someone mention to replace http:// by MMSC: looking like this MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms which didn't work for me whether I left the space between MMSC: and 216 or without the space MMSC:216) Max Sending Size: 200k (no other size available Network Profile: TMobile (or however you named it) Save everything Now, with this settings I am able to send the message (although I don't know if someone ever receive the picture cause I havent tried it yet) and if I use the MMSC instead of http:// the message never leaves my inbox. My G next to the Signal Meter only gets a green underline if I go to the Network profile and connect it manualy. Now, everytime I go to the Network Profile and click on Edit, when I look at the Baud Rate is on Auto and Line Type is on Modem. So if I change it back to 9600 and ISDN, save it, and go back to edit, it goes again to Auto and Modem. I called T-Mobile and first they guided me thru all the steps for this (which I already had done) and then they sent me a software update which Created a new profile.... when I went to edit, it was blank with no IP info, etc... so basically that one was useless. When I got transfered to a "Special Department" they were having difficulties, so they told me they will call me back. Till this moment I haven't seen post anywhere of anyone saying they got it to work. I'm sure that even if I contact Motorola they will tell me to call my Service Provider, so I'm not gonna lose my time doing so. This is an issue that is really getting on my nerves, as well as to most of you, and we should really do something about it. We need to write letters of complaints to Motorola and T-Mobile (along to any other cell phone company that is having the same problem) cause they must find a solution to this problem. Right now I'm more concern about this issue than to the lack of applications for this phone.
Ok, so I can browse the internet, send/receive pic messages, but I cannot get the MSN Messenger to connect. I've got TMobile and have tried connecting (because it gives you the option) via MMS and TZones. The error message I receive states "No Reponse, Please try again." Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.
Ok, so HOW did you get your phone to send and receive pictures??? Did you use the same settings we have posted here? And what data plan do you have on your phone? MMS, TZones, or the $30 bucks internet plan?
Thank you everyone for your help i read all the posts and now i can get online w/tmobile and got set up for mms. Very much appreciated

Hi folks, I just tried the bluetooth for the first time on my Ming. I linked with a friend's phone to share files. I managed to accept the files he was sending. But when it ended, I did not know where to find the files sent to my Ming. Anyone has any idea where the files received via Bluetooth is stored? Could you also email to me at rowdyrogue@gmail.com Thanks.
Hey i had the same problem tried all the different config. on the web that ive found and still nothing works. I could send mms but i cant recieve. I also noticed the same thing when you save the settings to ISDN it goes back to modem, i dont know if that's the problem. I talk to a couple reps in T-Mobile and USA Motorola they said it may have to do with what kind of software you have in your ming, if the phone came from hong kong and the software ends with 53P that might be the problem. If you type WWW008W on your phones dial pad you will be able to find your software. Oh yeah go to your dial pad hit menu insert, tap insert wait, that makes the W, do the same step to get all the W's. If the first set of numbers end with a .53P then you might have to change your software by flashing it. Thats what they told me that motorola told them was the problem with HONG KONG A1200 mings. The software on the phone cant accept tmobile MMS, which really sucks. I tried it with a Different A1200 Ming with software 44P still the same thing, my guess all the A1200 that was manufactured in Honk Kong have this problem. Let me know if you find a way fixs this problem.
Hi everyone, new member, just got my a1200 today and after installing my T-mobile SIM card it makes calls fine, but no form of text messages or internet browsing works, regular texts will start to send and fail, same for picture messages. I have tried the exact above settings and the most i got was the internet browser going to the first t-mobile t-zones page, but i could not reach any website i input in address bar (www.google.com, www.operamini.com) did i just miss some simple step or what?
many thanks to all for the helpful hints. I have cingular and can get the browser to work and can send/receive mms from my wife. Wouldn't have gotten there without this forum. I do have one problem that was kind of alluded to earlier in the thread. I have the 128MB microSD card that came with the phone but cannot see it in the file manager. All I see right now is Phone with the subsequent 6 subfiles underneath. At first I thought maybe the SD card is bad but I can use the adapter and use it on my computer just fine. I have even loaded mp3's on the card and then used the card on my wife's HTC 3125 with no problems. Did I accidently do something on my phone where I can't see the SD card? This is the only thing frustrating me on an otherwise great phone. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey; What I might try is to format the SD with your A1200. It might have be formatted under your other cell and not letting it be visible in your A1200 file manager. It may also be incompatible with your cell in the end. I would try a different one. You can purchase up to 2GB on ebay for very cheap. Good Luck. Good Things...
I figured it out. The connection just wasn't quite right. Once you close the little door on the card and push to lock it can pull the card off the pins so it won't interface. I just pushed on the card a little to make sure it was seated properly and sure enough, the phone recognized the card w/ no problems. I just ordered a 1GB off newegg for $13.00 w/ shipping! BTW I found an excellent forum on another website that details how to get rid of some annoyances like the blank text message after checking your voicemail. Its rather complicated but there is a process. I haven't tried it yet because I'm still having some compatibility issues with the program and my laptop. If your interested I can send ya the link.
Hi, do you know if this will work for T-mobile users in the US? If not, anyone happens to know the setting for T-mobile carrier? Thanks
Hi, I tried using your setting and got a successful connection. However, when I go into the browser and start searching, I'm getting a message from T-mobile that if I want Web Access, I need to subscribe and it costs $5.99/month. Is there anything else i need to do that get free web access on my phone? Thanks
To Many of you who bought the Ming A1200 off the internet, Good Luck. This phone has very limited capabilities in the U.S. market, and may not even be supported by your local GSM, GPRS network. Be very lucky if you get the phone at all to produce any form of picture messaging. Internet access is possible but limited time only. The only good use for his phone in this country, is to make a phone call. Most if not 90% of these models are international phones only. You should contact your local provider and find out if it is supported. I have known lots of people who bought this unit, and never got it to work right on our U.S. networks. And once you get the internet to work, the local providers figure it out and remove your access, on your next cell phone boot up. My suggestion would be consider another phone if you like PDA's.
I hear what you're saying if your not to familiar with setting up a cell such as this, but if you have the know how I have to say it is the best I've have owned. I have owned a lot of phones. My location is LI,NY and the metro area with AT&T. I have no trouble with any form of messages(sms/mms) none with the internet(I have enabled Edge) none with the touch screen or the Linux OS. The only thing it lacks in my opinion is WiFi. If it had WiFi it would really be complete all around. I have had @ least 2 friends purchase this cell from being impressed. It has a great bat life and with a 2GB SD I have 4 DVDs and hundreds of Mp3's. And, it looks good. Has a good speaker and nice screen/resolution. Plays good games and no trouble with blue-tooth. It also works flawless as a PDA. I live on the phone for my job. Easy 3500 minutes a month, so the phone has seen a lot of use. Take it from me who has used the cell to its fullest extent for about a year that I am still not ready to switch. But in the same breathe you will really need to be patient and set this phone up correctly. Good Things...
Hey ppl new user here, my ming is kicking my butt can some1 plz help me i cant receive pictures messages but i can send. Also the blank text when you get a voicemail.I love the phone but it gets on my last nerve PLZ IM BEGGING FOR HELP ANY1
hey guys i just purchased this phone a couple of days ago. I have cingular and when i put my sim into it i dont get any signal at all, i know this phone dosent work with the 3g network so i have the 64k smartcard sim is this the correct sim to use or should i get hte 32k sim? or do you think the phone is defective
CUINHELL go to that site and follow the instructions importgsm.com/pages.php?pageid=23 let me know if it works for you. so far everything work fine
jratwin thanks for the info but i have that info in the phone already, thats for the data i cant even make phone calls
What happens when you insert the SIM? Does it recognize the SIM at all and give you any type of error message?
nothing happens when i put in the sim card. it reads my sim cuz i can see all my contacts. if i turn it on with out my sim it asks if i want to turn off or on the antenna. i tested my sim in my old phone and it works, so i know something is wrong with the phone. when i click on the staus bar it tells me the antenna is on and the GPRS network is left blank.
It does sound to me like the phone is possibly defective then. I'd return it or exchange it for another. One thing I'd do first though if you have access to another working SIM is to try a different SIM in the a1200. If it doesn't receive a signal with that SIM either, that would confirm that the problem seems to lie with the phone. Where did you get the phone? Are you certain it's not looked to another carrier's service? That's the only other thing I can think of as a possibility, although I thought the phone would normally give you some type of a SIM restriction error message in that case.
yese i tried other sims and even went to the cingular store and got a new sim. i called motorola the other day and it is an unlocked international phone. they also think its the phone. i bought it on ebay and the guy does have a return policy.
Hi LukeDamien, Thanks for the reply too. The MING is a great phone don't get me wrong. I think I would rather have a Nokia N70 or something like that to be honest. The MING has tons of great features, And the MP3 base is great. Not to mention a 2megpix camera. But the sad news for this phone is true. You won't be able to use it the great U.S.A. yet. For example,, the ming can send a picture, but can't receive one from a message from a friend. It has a protocol limitation in U.S. markets. I do a lot of Seem work and cellphone moding, and this phone had me stumped for a long time. Till I spole with my friend at TMOBILE who said they have a ot of people who bought this unit, and they can't support it's protocol handling features. You will be very lucky to get the unit to do more then just make a phone call. But it is a great MP3 player, and pictures taker!! Thanks for the response!!:browani:
HEY LUKE can u help me plz why do i rceived a blank text message after i checked my voicemail. plz reply
I suspect that it is a text message that notifies your phone to turn off the voice mail indicator now that you've retrieved your voice mail. I'm not familiar with T-Mobile's service; however, I know that some unbranded Motorolas experience a similar issue with at&t/Cingular.
