I have not had a landline for more than a year, now, and I love it. Don't miss it at all, except that the new house I just moved into has wires everywhere. I have to figure out a way to hide them without cutting them because the landlord probably wouldn't like that.

I recently made the decision to go totally wireless and signed up for T-Mobile's internet service - I love it - they connection speed at times isn't that great (better than 28.8 in most places) but if I need/want a really fast connection I wander to one of the wifi-hotspots ... I recently drove from Seattle to Baltimore - and loved having the ability to connect anywhere I had a signal. :)

    I'm totally a wireless geek :)

No landline for 3+ years...too far from the CO for DSL, so I've got a cable modem ATM. Anyone know anything about Hughes Direct service? All that sticks in my mind is that it isn't telco return anymore (I don't bring a radio to the gym, and the closed circuit captioning is a bit messed up since they did some remodeling, so I never get the rest of the details...)

The only time I Have had a landline since 2001 was when I signed up for DSL service and pretty much was forced to have the landline by SBC to get DSL for cheap. Even when I had it, I never used it. Still don't have one in my name now, but I live with my gf and she has one.
