Well today my car rolled about 150 feet down a hill in the woods. It took out a few trees, 4 or 5 stumps, and it rumbled over many large rocks while I chased after it. Surprisingly the rear bumper wasn't damaged, but the tail light covers are in bad shape and the passenger's side mirror snagged a tree. It needs some minor body work, but I was quite surprised that it wasn't worse because there were several trees that this bounced off and drove over before it came to rest. I drove the car halfway back up the hill so the tow truck could reach it with the winch. I'm having it looked at before the body work gets done because I am quite concerned about the underside because of the rocks that it ran over on the way down. I did clear the path while waiting for the tow, but the car ran fine and i didn't see any leaks so let's hope for the best. I took pictures for the insurance because I may want to make a claim. I have a few more photos in the non-cell site part of the photo gallery.
Whoa Bill!!! Glad you and the car escaped any serious damage. That must have been scary to watch (and chase for that matter).

Well thanks for the kind words everyone. Hopefully the repairs won't cost a fortune. I heard somewhere that most accidents happen within 25 miles of home. My little adventure should help the averages.
I backed out of the garage to get the lawn mower and I was just beginning to push the mower out when I saw the car disappearing over the edge of the hill into the woods. I didn't bother to leave the car in gear and I barely applied the handbrake because my driveway is almost flat. yea....
So the estimate from the body shop to restore the car to its previous condition was rather expensive. Roaming rates for cars are quite costly so I plan to keep mine out of the woods from now on.
I am going to have it fixed completely. I have a car to drive while this one is being fixed and the insurance is taking care of it, so it made sense get the car fixed. Also, when it's done, I can remind passengers that the normal looking car that they are in rumbled through the woods for a surprising distance, and then was repaired and that should make for an interesting conversation.
