Shortcut 4-4-2 which is Settings-Phone Settings-Network Selection comes up STOP shortcut not available. So I cannot manually do a network search. Is the problem with the phone? Or is Cingular blocking my ability to do a manual network search?

I have the same phone with cingular. And I have the same problem. It is something cingular puts on the sim card. My 6340i is unlocked so when I put my sim card in from my nextel phone then I can see that network selection menu. I was told that if you get the phone flashed with new firmware then it might be possible to see that menu. I am going to take my phone over to a Nokia service center tomm. and see if they will flash it for me. I will post again if I have any luck. :D

Yeah, please do share if that flash corrects the problem. If it does can you tell me the firmware version they flash you with? Thanks

ok so update. I have yet to get to a nokia service center but i did call Cingular. I talked first with cs and then tech support. cs told me that all I needed was a code to unlock that menu. But when i talked to tech support (2 different times) they told me that with the new sim cards that menu is locked out and the phone will change networks automaticlly. But I am still going to goto the nokia service center and try and get the phone flashed because I have been reading that, flashing might be the ticket to seeing that menu so I will report when I get that done.

Please do let me know how that goes.

They said the new sim cards lock out that menu? My sim card is not "new"....February of 2003 isn't really that new, to me anyhow.
