Who's heard of the ambitious plans Mozilla announced that their OS will be better than Android and Apple iOS? They claim one advantage is to allow apps to run without the need for a browser. How does that work? How can you download an app without first having a browser to access to internet?

Android OS is a Linux descendant, so some version of a FTP client (File Transfer Protocol) should exist. FTP predates HTTP, mostly used by browsers .

I am not presently an Android user.
