If you've done the updates, then you have the usb driver in the folder mentioned above. Do you know how to update the driver by browsing in a specific folder?
What the heck... Here's how to update the driver (Windows XP): (there might be easier ways to do it; this is the way I know) Start Control Panel System Hardware (Tab) Device manager Look for the yellow "?" -- That will tell you which device needs the new driver. Right click on the device, select "Update Driver" Select "Install from a specific location" - Click next Click on the "Browse" button Click on the "+" next to each of the items: +My computer +Local Disk ( C: ) +Program Files +Mobile Phone Tools Then just highlight the inf folder -- Don't open the "+" Click "OK" Click "Next" The computer should load the new driver. If you have already gone through the steps of FULLY updating MPT, the correct driver will be there. Please post your results.
I have found if close the mic on the bluetooth headset it turns it off and you can hear the phone ring. Otherwise the headset will ring in you ear. Also I have found if your are on a call and want to move to the headset opening the mic will transfer the call to the phone
This is probably my only complaint with the phone. I would like to have my HS820 on so that when the phone rings, I can just take the headpiece out and put it in my ear. Unfortunately, the phone does not ring when the headset is on. You have to have it in your ear to hear the phone ring. I wrote Motorola about this and they said that there is no way to have the phone ring while the headset is on. Critic in this listserv also told me the same thing. If anyone can figure out a way to do this I would be 100% satisfied with my v710. Using the headset with voice activated dialing is the coolest thing ever.
Which headset are you using? If it's the HS810, then "closing the mike" is the same as shutting off the headset.
$70 rebate no good at Radio Shack w/upgrade My local Radio Shack directed my to look at the rebate form on the RS web site and it does indeed say that it is only valid for new customers, not upgrade customers. Crud. Anyone have any luck getting it through anyway?
The Verizon Store here in Shreveport, LA is getting the phones in on August 11th.....I'm headed down that way to get one!
Can anyone who has the phone comment on this question: The MP3 Ringtones, I've read what Adam from RS has posted about transfering from the TransFlash Card to the phone to use MP3 Ringtones, now I want to know, does it play the full file or however long it has for the rings till the voicemail picks up. I'm curious (obviously I'd pick it up as soon as it rings) but i'm wondering if it will play like that or if its like a continuous loop if you have say a 20 second clip (ex: Sopranos Intro) that you could send to the picture email address and save as an attachment. Basically the reason I'm asking is, I'm not going to be using this as a MP3 Player, nor am I really going to use the camera all that often (occasionally) to justify the need for the TF card until maybe prices drop more or I have some extra disposable income. Thanks in advance, looking forward to either Monday or Wednesday (Heard Monday in Hicksville NY)
If you go to the website and to the link it says the promotion is over. Click this link to go to the regular registration. It's over. Luckily I filled out my stuff while it was still up yesterday at 3.
As far as I know at least 710 people have registered their new v710...I was not one of them...the contest has been closed as heard in other threads
Quick question for those of you with a v710.... does the caller id picture come up on the small outside screen when the phone is closed and someone calls? thanks!
I know that this date has been floating around...but just another confirmation that the 710 will be released in the stores on the 11th. I spoke with my guy in PHX and he was playing with it when I was talking to him. They have 40 in stock right now, but cannot release them until the 11th. Probably old news, but just in case....
Re: $70 rebate no good at Radio Shack w/upgrade I added a line to plan and created a family share plan and i got the $70 rebate. Its a motorola rebate, not a verizon one. I already sent away for it and should be getting it in 4-6 weeks.
This is what I do. After the headset is connected with the bluetooth PIN, I drop the head set from the 710 menu. That enables the phone to ring on incoming calls. The one-touch button can either answer a call, or re-establish a direct connection. A second quick touch is required to use the voice commands. This Does not work if you reconnect the HS820 back to a charger - that seems to break the connection, but it will work even if you have had the phone and headset out of range of each other.
This morning I went to make a call on my v710 and the screen was completely white. The outside monitor was all blue. I tried shutting the phone off for a while to no avail. I called the phone and it rang so the problem was just with the screen. I called the RS store where I bought it here in Tucson and they told which store nearby had another in stock. I went over and they tried resetting the phone by taking the battery out but that didn't fix the phone either. So they just swapped the phone for a new one. The guy asked me if I had sent in my rebate yet and I had not. If I had, I probably could not have gotten a replacement that easily (or at all). I would recommend that you wait a couple of weeks before sending off for your rebate. That way you can return the phone with an intact box in case something happens to it. On a related note, I went to the Verizon store afterwards to have my numbers moved from my pre-v710 phone and the guy there said they have a bunch of 710s but they just can't sell them. I asked him about the firmware update and he had no idea what I was talking about. It makes me wonder if the only reason Verizon had to wait was to get enough of them in their stores and not because of any kind of firmware update. Just a thought.
How do you drop the headset from the 710 menu? Also, is the one-touch button the multi-function button on the headset? Thanks.
Yes I did that, and now it says "Motorola USB Modem", then MPT says it detected the device but could not identify it, so I selected v710 from the list, but now it just sits there "initializing", and then it comes back with a message "Hardware Problem". I think my phone has to be reflashed with the latest software, which VZW does not have in their system yet, maybe around the 11th they will.
You have at least as current a software release as I have... I'm a bit stumped at this point. When you did the driver update, did you end and restart MPT? Is your phone open or closed when you do this? Hopefully, someone else will be able to chime in with some advice.
Sorry, the Drop function comes up when you go to the 710 bluetooth menu and select the HS820 again - after you have made the initial connection with PIN. The the menu then gives you the option to "DROP" after the initial connection is established - so select "DROP", and then on the next screen confirm "YES". This apparently does not undo the initial PIN connection. If a call comes in - the one touch button on the headset will pick up the call. If there is no call and you want to re-connect, just hit the button on the headset once to connect. If you tap it a second time, the voice function command comes up. I found this out while trying out one of the games (MotoGP2) since the sound effects don't carry to the headset - although they do for some other similar applications. Sound fx are great on the 710 speaker. For all those who want a review on the HS810 - the voice quality is excellent. Once I made the change, people commented on the better voice quality - I had been using a wired plantronics headset with a StarTAC. Volume range is also great. The bluetooth works for the 10m distance is line of site - quality seems to degrade somewhat through walls. Still a nice advantage to any wired headset. The weight is almost unnoticed as it is lighter than the jabra, HS810 and many others on the market. I thought I would purchase it as an interim solution, but was really impressed with the performance and don't foresee needing to make a replacement.
I have just gotten the USB cable from RS which I can see may be a mistake. I do not have the futredial software but have downloaded the driver. I cannot get Mobile Phone Tools to find my phone. Can anyone help?
ok the next question, thanks to everyone thats answering. is it possible to record the voice dial name instead of trying to pronounce the given one? the hawaiian names i have in my phone come out very funky.
Is anyone else having problems with their mobile web? I had it activated, and it worked for a few days, but now it just says network down. I called customer service and they said they can't help me with it until the phone is released because they don't have any of the software for it yet.
I love how on that vzw moto shop thingy, the big graphic says, "Your patience has paid off! The v710 is here..." LoL that makes me chuckle. its almost like maybe they were playing with the people that want it. They were all sitting in the offices laughing at the calls and posts and the fiasco.
Ok, I finally got it, and it is working fine now. The trick was with the old MPT 2.21b, as soon as installed the exe over 2.21f, it worked like a charm, I guess some how in the upgrade version I missed 2.21b. What a relief, it only took me 3 days to figure it out.
It wasn't the correct part. That part # is for notebook connectivity. Got a refund. Went out to the Motorola ecommerce site and ordered the correct item. From what y'all are saying, I may have to wait for this firmware update b4 I can use it. Guess I'll see what happens when I get it delivered.
