No. We won't have any idea about price until the phone is released to retail. You can probably get a good idea if you look at the higher-end phones currently on the VZW website.
Did anyone check out that E-bayauction....$1200!!! I dont know about any of you...but that's $700 too much...thats better spent on cheap alcohol and lap dances from women I'll never see again! :browani: I am waiting patiently like the rest of you...but my days of impulse shopping on crappy untested VZW equipment are LONG GONE folks!!! I dont have that much faith in the Verizon/Motorola crumbling empire any longer!!
Agreed. I bet this guy is full of crap though. Also, most of the test versions have firmware that expire in a few months, so the phone will more or less self destruct eventually.
It takes a while, I'm sure you've seen the Verizon testing procedure on T.V. It basically involves two technicians in a field test. The field test starts off with a request, reply, and acknowledgement. Then a new test location is picked and the procedure is repeated. An example of this would be: A. Can you hear me now? B. fo shizzle... A. Good. Given that they only have one field person doing this test it takes a long time.
Yes, Verizon's testing program is so extensive...yet, my 4500 was full of bugs when it was released. W.T.F.?? Luckily the bugs were fixed in the V2 firmware. That tells me Verizon finds problems during testing, but does nothing about them until several months later. Thanks guys....
To cut costs, VZW no longer uses techs but trained monkeys. Now the monkeys want a pay increase so alternatives such as lab mice are being explored.
Price of bananas has gotten way out of hand. The techs kept telling me they didn't the 4500 update in, for weeks. I asked the guy to go look...comes back on the line...."yeah, we have it"
Still some HoFo users believe this friday is the big day. A VZW employee responded that first week of June is more likely. We shall see in 4 days.
Well, I haven't given up guessing what Verizon will do, but I only have one guess, and it's the same for every situation, and every product, every time and that gues is...."NO, LATER THAN THAT"
I'll save you the wait. Verizon has chosen to waste the past 3+ weeks and not progress the testing of the phone. The final round of testing has yet to be completed, and there will be at least one more provisional build after that to address small issues. One of these days I'll write up an explanation of the testing process so we can finally end this myth that Verizon tests the phones for months and months. The release date is dependant on when Verizon finishes the last round of testing and any issues (if any) they discover. I'd guess V810 this month and V710 next month. V60v for Sprint is available today.
I noticed the Circuit City in Arizona is offering the V6000 for 29.99 with a mail in and an instant rebate. Could this mean Verizon is clearing the way for a new camera phone ie the V710?
You mean an exec at Verizon doesn't spit into his hand, smack his hands together, then based on where his spit flies, comes up with a date on when a phone will launch? This is the picture I have....previous releases would indicate the above system being used.
hey everyone. just joined........ this would be a great phone to play with. i've read many of you waiting until testing is done for release... makes me wonder if any providers up here in canada will carry this phone???? i e-mailed a few companies but no response........ go figure! if anyone is talking with a moto rep, please ask them if they will be releasing the V710 in canada??? thanks, and keep up the vigil.... tv
I wonder if the timeline for their release window has allowed them to slack off in testing. They are probably waiting on the decisions on releasing video mail, other handsets, accessories, advertising, shelf space...etc etc.
I agree... most all phones coming out that are worth a crap have cameras on them... WHAT GIVES?? I miss iTap too.
I agree too. I don't want a camera. I really do not want a camera, but if it means I can't have bluetooth or a good screen, then I don't know what tradeoff to make. I like T9 much better than iTap though... Also, I have been by a fairly reliable source that the v710 will be out second week of June, not before that.
Well, it's the 21st and there doesn't seem to be any information on Verizon Wireless web site about the V710.
Yep. Score one for Bobo. As usual, he called this one right. Although I had an interesting experience earlier. I went over to the Mercer Mall VZW store (for s**ts and giggles). I asked the woman at the 'sign-in' counter if she knew if the V710 was available (without mentioning anything I'd read here or on HoFo). She had said that they weren't available yet, but that they'd be available... (at this point, she went into "deep thought" - as though she almost said something she shouldn't have) ...in a couple of weeks - although she had a chance to see one earlier, and... (at this point, she kinda went to the "deer in headlights" look, as though she KNEW she said something she shouldn't have) She walks over to the registers, where two sales reps and a gentleman who I remember as the manager were chatting. She asks them about the V710 - I kept my distance at first, but slowly made my way over. One of the reps starts saying something to the effect of "a couple of weeks", and the other chimes in, in a tone that I can only characterize as "I've told you a thousand times, THIS is what you say to the damn customer" - "It's not HERE, we don't know WHEN it will be here, it's still in TESTING." And snarks something about "we don't tell them when it's here", I think. At which point 4 salespeople let me walk out of that store dissatisfied. (Not angry, mind you, just dissatisfied.) Mind you, at least one of these reps were the same ones that literally DASHED across the store to help me when all I wanted was a headset. The sign-in woman was as polite as can be, and maybe a little too honest for her own good. If I got her in trouble for saying something she should have, I'm sorry for it. But the other sales reps talked to her as though the customer (me) wasn't standing RIGHT next to her. And that, I don't care for. It's those little CS issues that make me want to port out - of course, logic wins out, but... Anyway, I guess we'll see what happens with the V710. Maybe next week, maybe next month. Who knows?
I'm going on vacation so I'll be out of the loop for awhile. The 710 should be wrapping up testing in the next week. June and July are going to be busy months for new phones. There is still one phone for Moto coming out that nobody seems to know about. For anyone who thought the 710 or v600 was too big, this new phone will be a welcome relief.
