if you got the phone at radioshack new contract yes in two years you can get a 100 off a new phone at verizon. you just can't claim the new for 2 at radioshack.
i was just wondering, anyone figure out how to work the sms messaging program on the ux-50 with the v710
So I picked up my v710 at radioshack the other day, and I have a little getting used to after switching over from a Samsung with Sprint service. The main thing I don't like about the phone is the fact that the vibrator is weak, and it won't ring while it vibrates. I could always tell when someone was calling with the Samsung cuz it vibrated like crazy and I could feel it over the bass in my car. I just set the v710 to loud cuz I'd rather hear the ringer right away then sit for like 4 rings on vibrate and not knowing someone's calling me. Also, the backlight doesn't have the "turned on while phone is open" feature. I don't like the timer. But maybe I'm just having buyers remorse, it was an expensive phone. I'm still happy with it though, I consider it leagues above my old Samsung. Have fun with your phones people.
I have one question concerning the V710: is the ringer loud enough? That was my #1 complaint with my 3650. I couldn't hear it ring at all if I had the stereo on in my car, and I would just have to call the people back.
Yep, they put those words in red ink on the actual receipt in handwriting. It seems this is the only store I've seen that does it. I remember trying to buy a Motorola v60i(c) two years ago at full retail and they actually told me about the No returns so I didn't buy it but this time, I saw it done for one V710, another for the Samsung phones and one was for the Sprint phone while I was there playing with the V710. So perhaps that is the reason why they are the only two stores in San Francisco that has gotten the V710's because if people can't return the phones, then they would have more sales than the other stores.
I thought RS doesn't buy phones with any warranty from Motorola so they provided the warranty themselves, that's why it has to be taken back to RS when you had problems?
I have tried the phone tools with versions b, e and f. As soon ad I start the program, you hear the phone beep, but the display on the PC, just reads Initializing. I have not tried the cable yet.
I am waiting for the Verizon stores to carry the v710 and would prefer to buy the phone from them because I have more faith in thier customer service as opposed to Radio Shacks. With this being said would I see any penalty for buying a RS version of the v710 today then returning it on the 11th when the VZW stores recieve the phone. Also could I potentially mail in the $70 rebate from Radio Shack, return the phone for a full refund, still get the $70, then buy a VZW version and get another rebate? Just a thought though.
I connected my phone to my computer with a Belkin dongle. it recognized the phone but didnt recognize services. i for sure couldnt send any files- i tried my phone book but it gave an error. ive been using my v710 with my jabra free speak and it works great. Also the battery last for ever on this phone (and im used to the v60c so anything would be an upgrade)
okay, here's the deal. thanks everyone for their help w/the pricing. i left work friday, raced to RS and got the phone for $519.99 + tax. i know, i know, i'm crazy. but i'm also impatient. come to find out, i wasn't eligible for an upgrade from RS b/c i'm not a new customer beginning a new contract and i didn't receive the $70 rebate bc i wasn't a new customer. the phone is HOT. i love it. hate the pre-embedded ring tones that you can't erase and went to 2 radio shacks, a best buy and a circuit city looking for the transflash card and they looked at me like i was loopy b/c i even HAD the phone. and you're kinda forced to buy the extra mem. card because if you have a large phone book, and take pics for the phone and photo caller ID, then you're eventually not going to have enough room. also wanted everyone to know that if you have the motorola radio earpiece attachment, you can use it on this phone and listen to it as an FM radio, too. (Great for coming into work on the train.) I have one question, does anyone out there know how the Bluetooth would work with a Tungsten PDA? i tried it and they both recognized the connection but my PDA doesn't get on the internet. do i need a specific prgoram? let me know, please.
AdamattheShack: I know my 710 from RS comes with 1 yr war. not sure if its from MOTO, however I didnt have any MOTO paperwork with my phone so it is possable it is from RS The ringer: Loud as HE double hocky sticks Rebate and then return: Sorry won't work, no UPC's = no return cahoonka: the $70 rebate is from MOTO has nothing to do with you being a new or old customer (basically you should have gotten it) has nothing to do with RS or VZW better go and check that out
heyyy.....you stole my signature (but its funny cause now they are wavin at each other) how is the vibrate on the phone? on my current phone the vibrate sucks and i often dont feel it.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, I called Motorola customer support on the promotion for the free headset and what I was told after escalating to a manger is that they are waiting on Verizon to give them the o.k. to open up the registration. They expect that is should be August 15, but told me to call Verizon to confirm.
okay, quick question- can someone please tell me exactly what kind of transflash card, adapter, reader to get? i'm looking for model numbers, etc. because i'm afraid when i go to buy.com, that i'm not going to order the right one that'll fit the V710. help.
Do you have the BT250 (for Bluetooth phones) or the BT250 (the one with it's own BT transmitter)? I have a BT200 and I'm wondering if the earpiece alone is equivalent to a BT250 (in other words, does anyone know if I can use my headset directly with the v710)? --David
Yes you can use the Jabra Freespeak BT200 for Non-Bluetooth phones with the V710 (obviously without the adapter). Here's the link from Jabra's support pages verifying this. http://www.jabra.com/fscs/NBFreeSpeak_FAQ.html#13
Here's a thread from HowardForums where a guy describes how he connected the V710 to his Sony Clie TG50 via Bluetooth. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=422847 The same settings should apply to your UX50. When I get the V710 next week, I'll be able to verify this with my UX50.
Does anyone know how to send mp3s to the phone via VZWpix.com? I know it can be done by changing the filename from .mp3 to .mid and emailing it to (your phone number)@VZWpix.com but i cant seem to get it. Can someone help me out?
The V710 works flawlessly with the UX50. I've only used 1x so far; I would like to get qnc working as well for those times I'm not in a 1x area (I'm not sure if it defaults to lower speed or not - maybe I don't need to mess with anything). But it's fast and awesome. Connect to: phone Don't need any special settings for dialup; the basic #777, and <number>@vzw3g.com/vzw user/pass works great. SMS app doesn't work.
It seems most of you guys have the phone already, while I have to wait for Verizon and their da*n NE2 program. So to anyone who has the phone, when in camera mode, is anything displayed on the external screen such as "Camera," to tell others you're taking a picture? I know most camera phones don't do this, but I was just curious. And of course, congratulations to everyone who has the phone.
An accessory question to the gang here on this thread: Went to my local Verizon store to find out if they had a release date (maybe to get a rough idea on when Motorola would have the registration site up) and, of course, got the standard "Sometime in August". Oh well, I didn't expect anything different. When I told them how much I was enjoying mine & showed them the phone, a couple of blank stares and the obvious "Where did you get that?". Asked them if, since they didn't have a release date for the phone, if they had a release date for accessories. They did show over 300 of the Motorola Office Tools for $39.99 in their warehouse that I could order and have delivered in 2 days via Fedex. Their part # was VERKUM02KV2. My question: Is this the USB/software bundle that will allow me to sync my Microsoft Outlook calendar to the phone and provide file transfer capabilities? Verizon didn't have a good product descriptor in their computer, so I'm ordering this blind. They did say if it was the wrong part that I could bring it back to their store for a full refund, so no big loss if it's not. One bit of advise on battery charging. The first 2 times I charged it, I did so until it immediately displayed "Charging complete". Within a day, it went down to 1 bar. The next time I charged it, I turned the phone off, plugged it in, and let it charge overnight for 8-10 hours. It's been on and used for over 36 hours and the battery is still showing full. I may still get the Extended Life battery when it comes out, but this is encouraging. Enjoy your 710s!
Here is the scoop on the connection problems with Mobile phone tools. There is a firware update coming out somtinme in mid august, but until then the phone will not connect to the computer via bluetooth or, from what I understand, USB cable either. So you will not be able to transfer files, sync with outlook or anything else until that firmware update comes out. You can however try the transflash card to transfer stuff. This is from a Motorola support guy this morning.
When in camera mode the external screen displays "Verizon Wireless" upside down (right side up if you are facing the camera). The subject can not tell that you are taking a picture. Hope that answered your question.
Another V710 operational question for you lucky few out there: I've been using a Startac for the longest time and am quite used to its operation. I've been on the hunt for anewer phone (and now, obviously, waiting for the V710) however, I've noticed on a lot of "newer" phones that you are unable to hear yourself talk (meaning, what the mic picks up isn't transfered to the earpiece). I know it seems trivial but I automatically know when a line is open when the earpiece kicks in and I can hear myself breathe. So, the question is: can you hear yourself on the V710 or is the sound as 'dead' as all of the other phones I've tested lately? Thanks alot for any info.
im super turned off by the non vibrate and ring at the same time...i may consider holding off for whatever new LG is coming along.
