okay. a radioshack in new jersey is holding one for me until i get off of work. (I CANNOT FREAKIN' WAIT) but i have one question, though. i am eligible for an upgrade and a NE2 $100 credit. if i get my phone from radioshack, how much would i be paying for the phone. when i was getting off the phone with the CSR, I said, "so that'll be $519.99 + tax, right?" thinking full well that i have to pay the full manufacturer's rebate price for the phone since i'm not considered a new agreement. and he said, "no, if you're eligible for an upgrade and NE2 then it's $319, then apply your credit, and then the $70 rebate." i don't know what is correct and what isn't. help, please.

You will pay the $319. Radio Shack doesn't do the NE2, only the 2 year contract price. If you wait until Verizon offers them on 8/11, you would pay $219. In both cases, you will get the rebate.

That's a shame. I've talked to Verizon TWICE with "issues" and both times they were VERY helpful -- Albeit a bit amused that I had the phone...

For all those poor North Dakotans out there waiting for the V710, the Grand Forks RadioShack in the Columbia Mall does have a couple in. Granted we do have only 2 right now, but if they are bought we should get continuous shipments on them. Give us a call and we'll hold what we can the number is (701)775-7222, and ask for Don. Also, for all those waiting for Verizon to finally get the phones I had just called up customer service, and the lady had said "the rumor is August 11, but that is subject to change of course." So, it should be at least another 2 weeks until Verizon gets them in. The phone is a lil big but the screen is large, so I feel it's worth the size.

ok here pretty much how the mp3 thing works to get free ringers from mp3 on you computer. You need 2 things:

    1) Transflash Card - comes with sd transflash adapter
about 40 dollars buy.com or radioshack 70 bucks

    2) SD Card Reader - Radioshack 20 bucks

Put the transflash card the the sd adapter and then put both in the reader

Transfer some mp3 files from the computer by dragging to the card

Take the card out of the sd adapter and put it in the phone

ok now on the phone hit menu - media gallery - sounds - hit menu again - scrow to switch storage device - choose the card - scroll to the song you want - hit menu - then copy

This will now copy the song from the card to the internal memory of the phone and this might take a min or two

now hit menu again - switch storage device - choose phone - scroll to the song you copied - hit menu - apply as ring tone

If you want to change the song delete the one on the internal memory and then copy a new one or copy another one without erasing the original if you have enough room

I got a little bit of an attitude from the woman at Verizon for having the phone, but overall she was friendly and helpful.

    The pictures are OK.

As far as the price at RS vs VZW. According to the rep at Verizon, you cannot get $100 NE2 credit and the $70 mail in rebate. So go to RS, buy the phone. It will be $319 with a $70 rebate. If you apply for a RS credit card, you get a 10% discount. So you will get a $32 discount and a $70 rebate. You actually save $2 buying it at RS.

That's not true about the rebate. The rebate is done by the manufacturer, not Verizon. I have called Verizon and asked and you do get the $100 credit and the mail in rebate. You would pay $149 after rebate at Verizon. You would pay $217 at Radio Shack if you signed up for their credit card. So in fact you would save $68 getting it at Verizon if you qualified for the NE2.

I stand corrected. I went to the local VZW store and they told me differently. Probably still would have bought it at RS as opposed to waiting the extra two weeks.

You should've got the CS reps name and asked for a supervisor. That is extremely bad customer service. Sure you didn't dial AT&T CS by accident?LOL :D

I've been tempted as well but I like money a lot and none of the Radio Shacks here have them anyways.

I don't think AWS's cs isn't bad at all. I've called them about 4 times and each time they were nice and honest... the only time I had a problem is when I called AWS warante exchange and I couldnt understand the person talking at all.

I've been following this thread for a few months now, just reading because when I find information it's usually already been posted here. I read a post yesterday that RS had the phone, so I called my local dealer and was extremely suprised to hear that they had gotten 2. Little po-dunk towns like this usually don't get that kind of stuff at all for a few weeks. So I'm the first one in this county to have one. YAY. Anyhow, my question is this: How do I get MP3s on my phone, I can't transfer over bluetooth and it didn't come with a usb cable... Can anyone help?

    -Thanks

PS - This phone was worth the wait.

You need to get a Transflash card, they are available online and I think Radio Shack as well.

After that look for AdamAtTheShack's thread about tricks for the v710

You need to transfer using the Transflash memory card... You can get them online now (buy.com claims to have them in stock -- a few people have received them from there).

There are a few discussion threads on here and HOFO that have grown HUGE over the past 24 hours with some GREAT instructions on how to play MP3s. Make sure you read everything -- Chances are you will get your answer (and more) -- It will just take some reading.

    Good luck.

question for all of you RS people out there.

If I go and buy the v710 at a RS and sign a verizon contract while there, can RS also port numbers as if i was doing it straight through VZW? Planning to switchover from AT&Terrible and I have been waiting for the release for the v710 to do so--- just trying to decide whether to do it now or directly through VZW in a coupel of weeks

    Gave in

I was originally not going to get this phone because i was so ticked off at moto about my t720. So I got a samsung a670 about a week ago. It had a nice display and was small, but the camera just plain sucked.

After reading the forum posts, I ran out to RS today and got the v710. First I had to stop by verizon for an hour and return the Samsung, and then head over to RS and pick up the Moto.

First off, the 710 is by no means a small phone. It's skinny, but its big. The big screen is nice, but the phone is big. I like to think of it as a man's phone.

I still havent figured out how to use the speakerphone yet, but i have noticed, that for people that are complaining about picture quality, the camera comes in default set for medium picture quality.

Also, I was able to buy the phone from Radio shack for 30 dollars more and a 1 year contract. The rebate from on the Radio shack website doesnt mention anything about contract length.

And so far, the software seems alright, except for the bluetooth file transfer thingy.

I called radio shack today and asked if the had got the v710 in yet and they said they just recieved 2 of them 5 min ago, but one was already spoken for. So I rushed down there and bought it on the spot with the $70 mail in and 10% off. From there I went to Verizon to have them flash the numbers from the t720 to the v710. I knew where to go to get it flashed but instead went to the front and asked where i go to get the #'s flashed from "this phone to this phone?" The guy had a puzzled/look of disbelief on his face. He said "what do you got there?" When I told him he literally **** his pants, grabbed it from me and started holding it up showing all of his co workers. He immediatly asked me where I got it, said " wow.... I can't wait until we get this phone," and personally took it back himself to falsh it so he could play with it more. Then another 4 or 5 VZW employees came up one by one to look at it. Bluetooth works great and the phone is Super Dope! I couldn't register it yet though, I'll just have to check at 8:00 every morning :) :O :lmao:

:D I can't beleive I am actually typing this but IT'S HERE AND I HAVE ONE. I was told last night at the local Radio Shack that a shipment was coming in. I stopped by around noon and it had just arrived. I got one of only two delivered to the store. Here's the skinny on pricing. The phone cost $319 but you get a $70 mail-in rebate. Also, starting tomorrow Radio Shack is running a 10% off if you sign-up for a Radio Shack charge card. The guys (& gal) at the store said I could bring my receipts back tomorrow and they will re-ring me up and give me the discount. So, net of discount and 10% off, the phone will cost me $224.

I have my new number already ( I did not port) and have made two calls today. Crystal clear. My wife said it sounded like I was shouting it was so loud. The screen is big and seems to smudge quickly but wipes off easily. As for accessories, Radio Shack sold me something called "I-GO" which has a base unit and you select the appropriate adapter plug to go with it. Neat idea. Now I do not need to throw away an entire charger with every new phone, just get another plug. I also got the bluetooth wireless handsfree set for $56 (net of a 30% discount). Overall, a productive day I would say. Now I need to read the manual and find out what else it does.

Thanks for all who kept this thread going. Happy Hunting!

The Herald brings good news to all who shall listen.

I was able to find pictures taken with the V710, I'm sure some of you have found pictures like this before, but I thought I would herald these good tidings of great joy anyway.

    The link is http://f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/scottharr27

They may take a while to load, but trust me, it's worth it :browani:

yupp guys just picked up the last one from Radio Shack, phone is sweet. Works in my boondocks home on analog only mode, phone is sick!!!! Havnt tried out bt cause i dont have it but my one complaint and 1 question:

Complaint: Light sorta sucks, I don't think it's a flash but int he dark the light is just like no light

Question: Is it possable to change the backround of the outside display? Any way of getting the caller ID picture to show up the whole screen instead of just a small one in the center?

however this phone does rock and VZW was a bit upset when I came in and spoke to the lady who told me phoen wouldnt be coming out for months to ***** at her and make her give me a $10 credit for switching the numbers from my 730

I had a similar story today!

went to a RadioShack...they had 2....one of was spoken for, and the 2nd was MINE...

question...is it worth it to go to Verizon to have them port my addressbook, how much do they charge? or should I just take the time and type them in myself? I only got like 100 or so.. :D

Diggin the phone so far....but charging for a very long time...I sure hope this battery lasts longer then the V720, I can already see myself getting the extended battery when it comes out! :browani:
