If i purchase the phone from RS, will i have to goto RS for any tecnical help? Or will verizon help me out, i.e. if the phone breaks and etc...
Verizon does all the tech support. I believe that you will go to VZW for service, but my RS CSR told me that during the warranty period, RS will help me.
Verizon will do technical support over the phone and basic in-store. The big difference is Verizon will not provide warranty service for your phone.
Has anyone who bought the v710 from RS been able to register it with Motorola to get their free BT accessory? I haven't figured out the magic path to do so . . .
i dont think you can, man i rushed home rushed on the computer trying to get the headset, and i couldn't find anywhere on motos site. It says on the site they have to activate it then you can start registering but I guess they haven't. Maybe they won't until Verizon retail stores start selling the phone?
If anyone cares, there is one V710 at the Radio Shack at King of Prussia Mall (PA). Ask for Michael Willoughby and tell him I sent you: +1 610 337 4902.
I just got my v710 from Radio Shack on Broadway by Bryant Park. They only had two shipped in and the guy decided to give me the sale instead of buying it for himself so i was able to get it. He said the shipment is coming in over the weekend and will be available on Tuesaday. They dont even have the transflash card in yet. not till next week. I didnt have a chance to use it yet, but tonight ill take pics and use the Bluetooth with my Clie ux-50 to see if its any good. Ill let you know. And Motorola doesnt even list it yet under the Product Registration so I couldnt do that. Does anyone know whether the Hellomoto first 700 bluetooth giveaway will be at the full price?
One thing that miffed me about the V710 is that it came with one of the old-style holsters which doesn't swivel. Does anybody have a line on a good swivel holster/case for this thing? Thanks!
yeah i think i'm going to buy the transflash card on buy.com, it's only 32 bucks what a deal. Does anybody know if you can load mp3's on the phone or what? or do you have to buy them? Haha after i got my phone I had to go into the verizon store and show off.. The sales guy was like where did you get that!? then someone else came over and was like how did radio shack get that before us???
yeah, im thinking of getting a tflash through an online vendor, they seem to have them really cheap. Has anyone purchased one from buy.com? Man, i really want to go and get a v710 now! Come on VZ! Im not sure how the mp3 loading and all of that will work, i think their mobile phonetools software can do it, i remeber reading about it, but im hoping another program will allow you to interface with the phone so that i could put a ton of music on it and listen to them when i was bored. My ipod is great, but i always carry my cell phone on me...
IT'S LIKE CHRISTMAS!!! we get the phone in at work, activate it, ditch my att one, bring it all home and guess whats waiting for me when i get home. My TF Card, yeahhh. And it came with the sd adapter!!! :lmao:
I registered it (went through the steps with a MOTO CSR) -- But I doubt that it was the proper way. There is a general registration page, but the drop down menu doesn't show the v710. I just registered it under "model number not available" and hoped for the best. I DID have to put in the serial number, so who knows?
Here are some photos. There have been some requests for photos of the holster, so I included them. Sorry for the quality... I had to crop and reduce them so they'd fit on this board. At least you can see the sizes of the phones.
Does anyone know if you buy the v710 at RS, can they bill your Verizon account or do you have to get paid upfront? Also, is there anyone in the Chicago area that has one already? :hyper:
You pay upfront... $319 + Tax with a two-year renewal. You get a $70 rebate from with your receip. Sorry... I'm in the Cleveland area.
So is there no rebate for 1-year? Normally if a 2-year will have a $70 rebate, they'd at least give you $35 for a 1-year....but it seems there's no 1-year deal for this phone...that sux! I refuse to sign my life to them for 2 years. Dammit...if I wasnt getting promoted at work...I dunno if I'd drop the money for this crippled BT phone. Well....Who am I kidding...I'd prolly still buy it.
Verizon Update: I had talked to Roy in inventory at the Verizon store down the street from here on Wednsday. He told me to call back today and he would check his real time inventory. He just told me that they are getting the phones this Wednsday (8/4). He said they would not be available for sale then. He told me that they get an email usually Friday afternoons about new phones. His best guess was that they would get the email on 8/6 then they would demo some of the phones. His best guess was that the phone would be for sale at the Two Notch Rd Store here in Columbia on 8/8. Others have posted that the phones would be available 8/11. That may be true, he may be overestimating the time but at least we know when the phones are getting to the Verizon stores. I can't imagine other stores will be different than the one here.
Have the phone in my hand. Bluetooth. Can be used for handsfree and also for a dialup gateway. However OBEX is not enabled. So you can't transfer files which is not cool. The speaker is a little quiet, all the way up and I was still straining to hear. signal is good though. phone is little big, but not bad. seems fairly sturdy. Just wish it had the OBEX file transfer.
This might be a little too technical, but does anyone know the difference between a 1.2 MP lens and the VX8000's 1.3 MP lens. I'm assuming if anything that the difference is negligible, but would the 1.2 shot be smaller, or possibly just a different aspect ratio? Also, thanks for the pictures npitlor, but does anyone know where to find pictures taken with the V710?
maybe, but people who wanted OBEX now know if they didn't already. I was just hoping verizon wouldn't disable it. Also i dont see anything to play MP3s, which will also suck. I tried to email a picture and it failed, no reason. So far i think the V600 my friend has is better. nevermind, mp3 is on there.
Does anyone know if the OBEX being disabled prevents the address book from being transferred off? I had an Ericsson T616 on Cingular. That phone also had a camera. I never used it but I can't imagine Cingular would have allowed me to transfer off pictures using Bluetooth but I was able to transfer my address book/phone book off of that phone.
The 1.2 and 1.3 MP don't refer to the lens -- They refer to teh sensor. There isn't really a difference between the two -- They're rounding issues. The lens on the v710 is marked 4.56mm 1:2.4; just in casse you're interested.
Had the same problem sending a photo. It was an account configuration issue. I called Verizon and they took care of it. I was able to send pics 15 minutes later.
