Oh please! A & B are definitely out, C is most likely but at this point should make a lot of people seriously question Motorola, Verizon (mainly their testing department), and buying this phone in general.

Has anyone heard the most important thing? I know this phone has many whistles and bell but, HOW DOES IT WORK in rural area's you know motorola has a very bad reputation to over come. The last 3 or 4 phones they have produced are very bad in the reception department. Whistles and bells are nice but I want clear call the rest is icing on the cake. I'm very anxious to hear about call quality. Especially in weak area's.

Yeha, the reception quality is really improtant to me too. I get a weak singla at my house and would be more than happy to buy it if it was really good when it came to finding signals. Also, i had a question about the accessories for this phone. Are they in VZW stores already? If not, will they be there as soon as the phone comes along? I got this really cool 50% off any accessory coupon (my region had a zip code change) so i would really like to pick up an accessory for the v710 when i go to buy it as soon as it is in stock.

Ugg I knew the 600 had issues with OSX but that was just b/c OSX need upgraded iSync which is coming.

I didn't know that VZW was killing BT on this phone. If that's true I'm done. Sorry but I want BT for all of the features, not to only be able to use the crippled features VZW feels we are special enough to have.

I love VZW but they're ticking me off, think I'm going to Cingular.

Why the sudden panic? It isn't August yet, and they said August. Why should we suddenly question Motorola and Verizon? The phone was signed off on weeks ago. Verizon has better things to do than tinker with a phone they already approved. They are onto other phones. It is simply a matter of accumilating enough supply to meet the demand.

Everyone is more than welcome to run out and buy this the second it hits the street. And there will probably be a short wait after the first supply runs out. But if the past is any indicator, a month or so after the release is when bigger savings kick in. I'd imagine a bluetooth headset bundle deal at some point too.

Also keep in mind that as EDGE started to appear in the US suddenly the V600 and siblings got an EDGE enhanced refresh. There is no reason to not expect the same for an EV-DO V710 when that rolls out in early 2005. Try and remember that when you save yourself a few bucks with a 2 year contract.

    Adam,

You have any idea about the capabilities or restrictions that were placed on the Bluetooth, i.e. connecting it to your computer?

Sounds like you got yours today. Enjoy! My Radio Shack manager gave me a call late yesterday saying he was still trying to get me one tomorrow. Time will tell, my hopes are not high.

    Couple of questions:

Did you install a Transflash memory module in the phone?

What's battery life look like on it? My MPx-200 said 150 hours standby, more like 12-18.

What is a zire 72? I heard it was supposed to be able to connect to the hands free and headset protocols and my husband thought you could connect to a PC using Verizon software but he just thought he had read it somewhere. My car acts as a hands free protocol so my husband thought it would work with it. That's all I want the phone for really. That and it's pretty. I won't buy one unless the salesperson walks outside with me, and my car and it recognize each other. I know the v600 works with the Prius and I don't think Motorola would have made them too different. :)

It's interesting, though -- You can go through the steps of erasing them; it just tells you at the last step that 0 files were erased.

A Zire 72 is a pda which has bluetooth built in. as for connecting it to a pc you need some sort of blue tooth device for you pc, which i don't have so i have no way of know if it works. has for handsfree kits any will do thats not really a problem at all.

OK, I'm a happy camper. My Radio Shack manager got 2 in the store and I was at the top of the list. Charging it up now. Went ahead and bought the 128Mb TF memory card for $59.99-20% accessory discount, cheaper than the $79.99 Motorola's commerce site wants.

I also got a receipt for the $70 mail-in rebate for signing a 2-year contract with Verizon.

Have to see how this thing works now.

Seems that toolman27 was right.. Just found corroborating evidence about this on Gizmodo.com Great site for gadgets and electronics. The link to the Gizmodo article is: http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/more-verizonmotorola-v710-details-018508.php

and the link to the v710 equipment guide (referenced on Gizmodo) is this:

Hey guys, the kinda sucks that VZW will get it later, i wanted to get it soon but it looks like ill have to wait. I dont wanna give up my NE2 credit. Anyways, i also have a 50% coupon, im just trying to decide if i should use it for a Transflash card (128) or if i should try to buy one from buy.com for 30 bucks. What do you guys think? should i buy the tflash from the website for cheap and use my coupon for something else like a headset or something? Let me know waht you think, thanks a lot!

Those of you who have gotten a phone from Radio Shack - can you confirm or deny the Bluetooth issue mentioned in the above article?

For those who were lucky to acquire one, how about a few pics?

I want to see how big this thing is.

I'll get some photos taken tonight.

Here's the thing: I've had a Startac for years.. The v710 is rougly the same height, thickness, (the Startac battery makes it thicker, the rest of the Startac is slightly thinner), and very slightly narrower.

I believe that both phones weigh almost the same.

I will do that. I also have an IPaq 4150 - I'll put those all in the photo. I saw a photo a while ago with a 4150 and a v710... The v710 looked much larger. I can tell you it's much smaller.
